Don Felipe visits the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club at its 125 Anniversary
The Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club has already marked another very special date in its extensive history: October 9, 2023, with the visit of El Rey on the occasion of the 125 anniversary of the centenary entity, which has witnessed the change in the Abra.
As he has emphasized throughout this anniversary and in his speech this Monday, Manuel Sendagorta, president of the Club: "It has been the spirit of overcoming, effort, teamwork, tolerance and companionship, united to our passion for the sea and for the races - precisely these have driven in 1898 a group of fans, chaired by Santiago Martínez Rivas, to have founded the Sporting Club- who have made us live through these 125 years, with the commitment to further promote this attachment to the sea."
After a wide list of sports, social and cultural activities throughout this 2023, the central event of the 125 Anniversary was held with the visit of Don Felipe and a programme of presentations with the participation of: icardo Barkala, president of the Harbour Authority of Bilbao, Alejandro Aznar president of the Spanish Maritime Cluster and Antonio Zubiría, regatista.
At 1430 hours he arrived at the Club Don Felipe, received with a performance of the Coral Society of Bilbao to greet one by one the young regatists of the School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte and the partners gathered in the ironing of the club.
The King received a detail from the youth world champion team twice in the J80 class. During his visit to the Maritime The King shared lunch with institutional and sports representatives, as well as with a representation of the partners and the Board of Directors "I had not planned this intervention, but you close 125 years of this double club that 51 years ago decided to join and form this great society dedicated to the sea. I want to congratulate you on your 125 years. There are many and many history, with challenges. It is a story worthy of being told and celebrated. 99% of those here are sailing fans. I want to thank you for your tenderness and how you have done it at delicate times."said the King, who said goodbye to a "zorionak, congratulations, and I wish you many more years," after showing their illusion by remeeting with promotion partners present at the event.
There was also an emotional award of Special Awards for the 125 Anniversary... to the Red Cross of the Base Sea Arriluce, in recognition of its work over the last 50 years with the people of the sea; to the DalecanELA Association, for its commitment and strength to visualize the disease of the ALS; and to Gabriel Laiseca Artheche, in recognition of a lifetime of regatist culminated with the World Championship of the Snipe class in 1957 with Juan Manuel Alonso Allende.
