Irati Goikoetxea, Juan Martínez, Luis Fernández and Mira Lazkano were the protagonists, in the senior category, of this 3rd Cup of Spain held in the newly opened Canal de Aguas Bravas of the Leonese town of Alejico- Sabero. A new slalom installation that, in view of the comments and sensations of international palists, met the expectations of all participants. With the usual schedule, and the constant threat of the rain, this 3rd Cup of Spain of Olympic Slalom was started with the meeting of team leaders at 9: 00. Then, demonstration of the circuit and staging of a 22-door route, with a flow rate of 45m3 and special difficulty in the final section that marked the differences of the competitors.

The favorites, in the different categories, were getting the pass to the finals that began at 14: 30, with some surprises like that of Juan Martínez in K-1 senior, which was done with the record of the circuit and the first competition of the Cup. Telmo Olazabal and Unai Nabaskues amended the second competition, but insufficient to reach the palist of Calasparra. Irati, Mira and Luis had no difficulties, and they would award the two competitions they added to achieve the Spanish Cup. Victories also loosed for Laia Sorribes and Ainhoa Lameiro in the female kayak, and Manu Ochoa and Mikel Trave in the male kayak. The canoe, in the categories promises, was for the Segovian David Burgos in C-1 Junior and for the Catalan of the Cadí, Mikel Trave, in the category cadet, which with this triumph made double in the Cup.

Finally, the female canoe in these categories was awarded by Amaia Mediero in Junior, and Ainhoa Lameiro in cadet, thus achieving the Penedo palist double triumph in the Cup. By teams, uncountable triumph of the Atlético San Sebastián ahead of the Santiagotarrak, and third position for the Cadí, relegated to this position as it went down from some of its best palists.

During the two days of competition, the channel offered excellent flow conditions, thanks to the collaboration of the Hydrographic Confederation, whose president visited the facilities days before the competition.
