The Vigo Concello International Trophy as a prominent event of the Abanca Week Pyragüism, is consolidated as one of the reference quotes of the Sea Kayak in the Atlantic, with two hundred palists of the cadet, youth, senior and master categories from five countries. Final victory for the Cobres Nautical teams, being the silver for the Kayak Vigo Club and the bronze for the Piragüismo Cambados Club. All of this in an exceptional setting, the ETEA's Regatta Field in the middle of Vigo... that at the hand of the Abanca Week premiered in these leds in 2013, then with Olympic and traditional rowing competitions.

The event was supported by the Royal Spanish Federation of Piragüismo, as well as by the Galician Federation, which is chaired by Alfredo Bea, one of the most active and decisive leaders of Spanish nautical sport, and the Galician College of Judges, which appointed one of the most valuable technicians of Spanish Piragüismo at the international level, such as Eddi Freire... a regular despite his youth, in the most important European and world championships.

In the first-line organizational tasks the Olívico Piragüismo patroniado by an excellent palist who was forged in Aldan: José Angel Besada; who shared works with the Marítimo de Vigo and the Marinaetea association.

To highlight in the individual categories Carlos Pérez Rial "Perucho," an Olympic gold medal, which achieved victory in the senior category 10000 meters, the French Roland Lebeau, which is one of the best Galician palists that did the same in its category of ten kilometers... ahead of the Spanish Leonese, Oscar Vaquero del Canoa Kayak Zamora and Carlos Besada of the Naval Club of Pontevedra.

2023-09-22: First act of Piragüism in the Abanca Week... the International Concello de Vigo

High-level Pyragüism at the Abanca Week, with the International Vigo Trophy of Kayak de Mar, which will be held on Saturday, on a single day, at the ETEA Track in the middle of Rande, with the organization of the Club of Olivic Piragüism chaired by José Besada, Club Marítimo de Vigo de Zulema Prado and the Galician Federation of Piragüismo, thus with the support of the Spanish Royal Federation.

In line of departure two hundred palists from the cadet to senior categories of sea kayak, as well as of SUP (Stand Up Paddling), representing clubs of Galicia, Asturias, Castilla León, Portugal and Venezuela... and with an exception palist in the water: the gold medal Carlos Pérez "Perucho" of the Club Ria de Aldán, who achieved the highest Olympic award in the category K2 500 meters, being his partner the great Spanish palist Saul Craviotto.

The Galician palists, with clubs in the four provinces are the favorites a priori... but it is also necessary to highlight the Spanish-Latvian palists, and among them the team that Canoa Kayak Zamora has displaced Vigo, and among them Laura Alvarez, Oscar Vaquero and David Rodríguez, who have to access the final podium.

It should also be noted that the day before yesterday there was an important meeting at the Verdudo facilities of the Galician Federation of Piragüismo, which was chaired by Alfredo Bea and attended by José Pesqueira, president of the Tambo Marin Maritime Club and José María Pazos, who was responsible for the Dragon Class... and representatives of the Olívico Piraguism, the Vigo Maritime and the Abanca Week itself. It was unanimously agreed to hold the second Pyragüism competition in the waters of Marín, in the province of Pontevedra, which will be held under the name of Copa Galicia de Dragons Ence-Concello de Marín and which will take place on November 11 in the Pista Mayor White of Marín, with participation of 12 crew ships, with a 20 clubs of Galicia, Asturias and Castilla León. In this way the Tambo Club becomes part of the Organizing Committee of the Abanca Week.
