Spain gets the eighth Olympic square with the Women's Kite Formula

Gisela Polido gets the square for Spain in an impeccable semi-final infarction
The European Kite Formula Championship ends with the best of the results for Spain: Gisela Polido achieves the country Olympic square for the Women's Kite Formula that is in addition to those already achieved in the Olympic Class World for the 49th, 49er FX, 470 Joint, iQFOiL F, iQFOiL M, ILCA 7 and Nacra 17.
The day began in a timely manner and, after the final of the British Lily Young in group A was confirmed, the contest began in the B, led by the Dutch Annelly Lammerts, with two wins of advantage, the Polish Julia Damasiewicz with one, the German Leonie Meyer and the Spanish Gisela Pulido, the latter two with their blank markers.
The move to the Final was one of the goals, but the only Olympic square that was given in the championship was important by having three countries in a struggle for it in the Semifinals: Austria, Poland and Spain. The Austrian Alina Kornelli took part in Semifinal A and obtained the third place in the only disputed round. The Semifinal B began and Gisela Polido soon took the head of the fleet, in a hard body-to-body with the Dutch Lammerts that ended with victory for the Spanish.
Gisela's first position equated markers with the Polish Damasiewicz, but also left Austria out of play, with zero wins in its markers, facing the Olympic square. The same duel was played with the slightest difference between them. On the last board towards the line of arrival, Pulido was counterattacking and as he overtook Lammerts both Riders fell into the water... with good advantage against his pursuers, the final result depended on the speed of reaction of both regatists and Lammerts managed to take off before thus adding the third victory that gave him the pass to the Final. Gisela crossed the line in second place but obtained the best of the awards: the country's Olympic square. Poland and Spain were winning, but the unbound favoured Pulido.
