This morning, the first test was launched for the 53 ships participating in the ORC Double Honed World Championship 2023, organized by the Reial Club Nàutic in Barcelona. On Sunday afternoon, after a careful analysis of the weather parts, the Regatas Committee set out the routes selected for the navigation of the first test, the longest of the championship. 55 ships from 9 representative countries will meet in Barcelona to compete in the second edition of the ORC Double Honed World Championship, the first edition was held in July 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden.
The participating fleet shall be divided into three categories: Class A, Class B and Class C, grouping similar performance vessels. In addition, the Global ORC A2 2023 will include the Corinthian division and the Corinthian Trophy, intended for fully amateur teams.
The sports program consists of a total of two planned tests, a long offshore test and a short offshore. The Organizing Committee has planned different routes, with distances of approximately 200 to 70 nautical miles. Some of these tours will take participants from the Barcelona coast to the Balearic Islands and back, while other options will explore the Catalan coast. The exit signal of the first long test is scheduled for Monday at 11 in the morning, and the short test will take place on Thursday 14, at the same time. The specific routes will be determined according to the weather conditions to ensure the optimal development of the competition.
