Víctor Pérez and Luca Bruggioni, from the San Antonio de la Playa Balear Maritime Club, were proclaimed winners of the Snipeo-Juan Manuel Alonso- Allende fought for three days in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra, under the organization of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club in the year of its 125th anniversary.

Second in the final podium were the regatists of the Club Marítimo de Mahón Jordi Triay and Enric Noguera, European champions a week ago in Italy, who imposed themselves on the last sleeve to be 5 points from the winning couple.

The young people of the Marítimo del Abra, Tomás Trueba and Tanis Rey-Baltar, who held a fantastic championship, completed the third podium drawer. The National Circuit of the Snipe Class, organized by the National Secretariat of the Class (Snipe Spain) has been offering for seven years a suggestive calendar of races, including this Spanish Championship in the Abra, the Spanish Cup, the Iberian Championship and several more tests distributed among the different Spanish fleets. With the results obtained in all the tests that make it, the national ranking of regatists of this kind is made.

2023-08-30: Start in Getxo the Spanish Championship -MSC with 82 snipes

The Vizcaina waters of the Abra, with the organization of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, are the stage from this Friday to Sunday of the Spanish absolute Championship of the Snipe class. There are almost a hundred boats with the most prominent regatists in Spain of this kind as strong of light candle as is the Snipe. The Abra will decide the winners in different categories after races that are always very exciting and equal.

The picture that will stop the waters of the Abra during this championship will be exceptional with dozens of ships of the Snipe class - 82 couples registered in this absolute category - with the exits marked at 12 hours during the three days of competition. Among the 82 couples who will sail in the beautiful regatta fields of which this part of the Cantábrico has regatists from the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Andalusia, Madrid, Galicia, Baleares, Canarias, Valencia or Murcia.

The RCMA-RSC organizer of this relevant light sailing test in the year of its 125th anniversary, has been forming regatists in its School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte, which has great experience in organizing competitions with many participants, as is the case in this Spanish Championship Snipe 2023. Six tests are scheduled for the absolute category, two of which will have to be completed for the Championship to be valid. No more than two sleeves shall be sailed per day, except when it is left behind in the programme, in which case three may be sailed. The Championship, sponsored by MSC, is organized by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club, by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela and with the collaboration of the National Association of this Class, the Federation Vasca y Vizcaine de Vela, El Correo, the City of Getxo and the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia.

In the club organizing this test there existed for several decades of the last century a very outstanding fleet of Snipe that sailed with assiduity in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra, the place of celebration of this absolute Spanish Championship of the Snipe class in 2023. In addition, one of the most important achievements of the Basque candle took place in this class: in 1957, Juan Manuel Alonso- Allende and Gabriel Laiseca, two regatists of the Club de Las Arenas, won the Snipe World Championship in the Portuguese town of Cascais with the Guadalimar... On the other hand, Manolo Rey-Baltar and Borja Reig achieved in late September 2021, in Almería, the Junior European Championship in the Snipe class with the Fhimasa Lastrin.
