From August 21 to 26, the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023 will bring together in Marina Vela a dozen teams of seven nationalities to decide the title of TP52 World Champion. The fleet of the 52 Super Series will share stage with several teams aspiring to the 37 America's Cup, who train in the waters that will host in 2024 the next edition of the battle for the legendary Jarra de las 100 Guineas.

Quantum Racing powered by American Magic will defend the crown achieved last year in Cascais. If he presented the same team with which he achieved the world title and the circuit in 2022, he would certainly be the great favorite, but the American team introduced important changes in his staff by betting on young talents this season, and for the moment he has not managed to win any of the three events played in 2023.

In Barcelona it will be reinforced with the reincorporation of the charismatic Terry Hutchinson, tactical of American Magic. Despite his long experience, Hutchinson suffers from high-level race practice this season, and it will certainly take time to break into the young crew of Doug DeVos's team.

That said, Quantum Racing powered by American Magic has proved to be fast in the three trials this season and continues to count on the fleet's best palmaris, including four world titles (2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022). If they are able to fit the pieces, it would be no surprise to see the perfectionist Hutchinson become the catalyst of victory.

The return of Hutchinson revives one of the longest rivalries of the Circuit, as it will again face the Italian Vasco Vascotto, former world champion of TP52 with Azzurra and current tactic of the Platoon of Harm Müller-Spreer. The German team arrives in Barcelona after winning a Royal Cup match in Mahón, and its trajectory includes two world titles (2017 and 2019).

The Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023 is the fourth to be noted for the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023. The event program includes an official training day on Monday, day 21, and five point tests between Tuesday, day 22, and Saturday, day 26.
