The sixth edition of the Rías Baixas Regata, sponsored by Galicia Calidade and Xacobeo and organized since 1964 by the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, concluded without return to Cíes and with the final triumph of the Oils April (ORC 1-2), just twenty-five years after its first victory in the Rías, in the 1998 edition.

Adetas Terrae (ORC 3), (ORC 4-5), Salseiro (Open 1) and Sampaio I (Open 2) were the other winners after five days of marking along 92 nautical miles (83.90 for the Open and ORC 4-5). The uncertainty of the weather outside of Cíes - no view - decided the Regatas Committee to change the route. The organization opted for one for the ria, of 14.40 miles, ten less than the expected, which reconstructed the day for a more technical test than the April Oil was winning. The ship of the Pérez Canal, but also the Adetas Terrae de Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo), which won the stage in its class and was the best, in compensated time, of all the ORC 1-2-3.

The Swan 45 Oils April (Jorge and Luis Pérez Canal, RCN Vigo) returned the coin to the Swan 42 Cs Magic (Julio Rodríguez, RCN Vigo) for its victory in 2022. That was the first confrontation between the two ships, substitutes for previous models. The oil ship, which had ahead of the Sailway of Ramón Ojea (Marítimo de Vigo), watched the Magic and ended first in real time (02: 05: 58), with 96 seconds of difference over the Rodríguez sailboat. Cid and his Adetas Terrae, also with the grympola of the Viguese Nautico, ended with 2: 34.06 hours and in compensation was the best of the fleet ORC 1-2-3.

The April Oils was second and, third, the Magic, The real time of the Sailway (2: 30: 26 hours) only gave him in the corrected to be sixth, giving up the lead but not the subchampionship. On the final podium, April was 11 points (1-4-2-2-2), compared to 14 of the Sailway (3-1-3-6) and 15 of the Magic (2-3-6-1-3).

For the Pérez Canal it's their eighth Rías. They won in 1998 and 1999, but also, already with a First 44.7, in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021. This is his first victory in this five-stage race with the Swan.

The Adetas Terrae (Vicente Cid, RCN Vigo) dominated another race (won four out of five). He was pursued in the podium La Burla Negra (Juan José Martínez, CN Castrelo de Miño) and the Maracaná (Carlos García, CM Panxón). Success, then, for the Deep Blue, which in the era was a sponsorship.

The Balea Dous (Luis María Pérez, RCN Rodeira) again won (1-1-2-1-1) and rose with the triumph in its division, with the Ronautics Marinas (Jorge Carneiro, CN San Telmo) second to ten points.

The Portu III (Antonio Tena, CN Altea) won the race, with the second Berlinguiño. The Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña), third, was able to control its direct rivals in order to win the win. The subchampionship was for Tena, with the ship of the Campos (RCN Sanxenxo) paying its withdrawal from the previous day.

Emotion to the end. The Sampaio I (José Pérez, CN Rianxo) was also able to win in the Viguese era (1-9 [NSC] -1-3-1, 15 points) to win the victory after five stages of the exchange of leaders. The Villano (Luis Bodelón, RCN Coruña), second in the stage, had to be content with the subchampionship with 18 points (3-9 [DNF] -3-1-2).

2023-08-14: Regata Rías Baixas... sorpasso of the Magic Captain Rodríguez and again to begin

Magical (ORC 1-2), Adetas Terrae (ORC 3), Balea Dous (ORC 4-5), Salseiro (Open 1) and Villano (Open 2) won the Sanxenxo-Vigo... Sailway, third in compensation, maintains a point of advantage over the Oils April and four over the Magical in ORC 1-2... closing morning, the Vigo-Cíes-Vigo beginning at one of the afternoon), which will close the Rías Baixas race of the 60 years (Juan Caballero)

The Rías Baixas Regata that are sponsoring Galicia Calidade and Xacobeo, that is the Xunta of Galicia... comes to its final day with almost everything to decide... thanks to the high level of three ships above that are doing so very, but very well: Sailway with Ojea Jr to the cane, Oils Abril that to the Tintin is directed by the Brothers Pérez Canal (Pérez Canal & Pérez Canal) and a Swan 42 that presupposes to be Magico, that is not that piece of Central American player of the Cadiz... and that has been in a very good way in many years... and that it has been in the Mágico...

The victory of Captain Rodríguez will give more emotion if it is to return to Cíes... for after the fourth stage of Sanxenxo-Vigo with a 20-mile-long, the differences have been reduced... with Sailway from first, April to follow and closing Magic... the lot of those who can win, the title of truth... the one who certifies that it is the most or the most beautiful of this nautical contest, and not being one of the ladies of honor... and that in the most important category, in the first division for us to understand... the day of departed in the best of the saintly... is the reaction of the saintly... and the best that it is the one that it has put in the saintly.

When the two in the afternoon made an act of presence, the judges gave the first voice to the 4-5 ORC and the Open. Thirty minutes later, the 1-2-3 ORCs started their particular fight. In close proximity to Camouco, the day was fast. In fact, this time on the Costa da Vela there was no well, no lock-up of Eolo, and the fleet reached the Viguese ria with 18 knots and a wind of 300. Under these conditions, the two ships with the Nautical grympola, both the Magic and the Swan 45 of the Pérez Canal, were the fastest.

The Sailway of Ojea fought to make the difference the least before the two Swan. In compensated time, second place the oil ship (2: 21.21) and third, for the Sailway (2: 44.23 in real, only 44 seconds difference in compensation over April). Ojea thus retained the lead by adding 8 points, one with an advantage over the ship of Jorge and Luis Pérez Canal (9) and four less than the Magic (12).

The Adetas Terrae, for its part, with Vicente Cid of the Nautico de Vigo, added to his third stage victory in ORC3, so that he keeps at bay La Bella Negra (Juan José Martínez, CN Castrelo de Miño) and the Maracaná (Carlos García, CM Panxón), the other ships of group 3 to discuss the title.

A step below in ORC4, the Balea Dous (Luis María Pérez, RCN Rodeira) carries three of four partial wins (1-1-2-1) and, with 5 points against the 14 (4-7 [DNC] -1-2) of the Marine Ronautics (Jorge Carneiro, CN San Telmo), is the virtual winner. He has the challenge of winning also in Cis, which he has not achieved so far.

Already in the categories of family cruise, the Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña) won again among the Open1, and is placed as a provisional leader, at a strange stage. It was first and it adds 7 points (2-3-1-1). Berlinguiño II had to withdraw because of the indisposition of a crew member, who the organization moved in pneumatic to land. It finally got scared. The X-412 armed by Andrés Campos is placed with fifteen points in third place (1-1-2-11 [DNC]), with the Portu III (Antonio Tena, CN Altea) in the second square with 13 (3-4-3-3).

By closing in Open 2 the Villano was first in the Nautico and the Sampaio I (José Pérez, CN Rianxo), which carries a very secure series (2-9 [DNF] -2-2), and two points with respect to the Villano (Luis Bodelón, RCN Coruña), which adds 16 (3-9 [DNF] -31). So the Cies will sentence because equality is maximum.

Once again with exits marked for 13: 00 and 13: 30 hours, the Road-Cies-Vigo route will decide the Rías Baixas Regata 2023.

2023-08-12: Rías Baixas: Sailway wins in Sanxenxo... while April is waiting for a mistake

The departure, with a delay of 90 minutes, was taken to Aguiño, but then the fleet flew to 12 knots... the fourth stage, this Sunday, between Sanxenxo and Vigo, of surveillance among the favorites waiting for the Watch-Cies-Vigo (Photo Juan Caballero)

The sixtieth anniversary of the Rías Baixas Regata, sponsored by Galicia Calidade and Xacobeo, left the third stage (A Pobra-Sanxenxo) as the fastest among the three disputed.

And that despite the fact that at first they seemed to paint sticks, as the Regatas Committee was forced to look for another position for the exit in the Ria de Arousa, and to delay for an hour and a half, the beginning of the stage... the fleet ended up sailing 17.70 miles, about five less than scheduled.

The Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña), of the Open 1 classification and which had left in the group of 14: 30 hours, was the first to arrive, in real time (2: 11.40 hours), to the finish line marked between the beach of Silgar and the hatch of the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo. Thus, the stage victories, in compensated time, would be for Sailway (Ramón Ojea, CM Canido) in ORC 1-2; Adetas Terrae (Vicente Cid, RCN Vigo) in ORC-3; Ronática Marinas (Jorge Carneiro, CN San Telmo) in ORC 4-5; Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña) in Open 1 and San Paio I (José Pérez, CN Rianxo) in Open 2.

ORC 1-2. April oils was imposed in real (1: 57.35), with the second Magic (2: 03.21). But none of the grimpola crews of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo was able to put enough time with the provisional leader, the Sailway, to take away the stage triumph in compensation and the first place in the classification.

The day also led the Magical to the seventh place in corrected time. The Swan 45 de Julio Rodríguez, who defends title, is far from the first two, as the Sailway of Ojea signs 5 points (3-1-1) by 7 (1-4-2) of the oil ship of the Pérez Canal. The Magic goes to 12 points (2-3-7), tied with the Urbapaz (4-2-6), with Fran Edreira to the cane (CN Cabanas). By the way, Edreira has been dismissed by the Protest Committee from two claims against the Sailway for the second stage.

ORC 3. What a duel between these cruises. The Adetas Terrae (Vicente Cid, RCN Vigo), that is to say the Deep Blue 2.1 fight that never loses the Rías, added its second stage triumph after having been imposed on the Vigo-Commud, while on Friday he won the Maracana de Carlos García (CM Panxón). The fight between the two Dufour 34, this 2002 and that of 2003, is being magnificent. In fact, in the general classification ORC 1-2-3, the Adefas Terrae was third stage in time compensated.

ORC 4-5. Ronautics Marinas (Jorge Carneiro, CN San Telmo) was first in Sanxenxo and is second in the general (4-DNC-1). The Balea Dous (Luis María Pérez, RCN Rodeira) command (1-1-2) and was the only ship that managed to reach A Pobra on Friday, a hándicap that is now dragging its rivals.

Open 1. The Salseiro won the stage but the Berlinguiño II, armed by Andrés Campos and with Pedro Campos to the cane (RCN Sanxenxo), does not give in. It was second and maintains its advantage (1-1-2, 4 points) against the Coruñés ship (2-3-1, 6 points). From behind, tied to 11 points, REM (Joaquín Potel) and Portu 3 (Antonio Tena, CN Altea).

Open 2. El Villano (Luis Bodelón, RCN Coruña) leads the provisional general although the San Paio I (José Pérez, CN Rianxo) won the stage. The Beneteau First 310 de Pérez had also been first in the Vigo-Commud, but he has also been penalized by his NSC (he did not sail the course) in the Combarro-A Pobra, so he is third in the general (11 points). The Villano adds 8 points by 10 the J80 Pazo de Cea (Cristina González de Cominges, MRCY Baiona).

This Sunday, the fourth and penultimate stage between Sanxenxo and Vigo, with an expected exit at the edge of one in the afternoon... there are still 45 miles of navigation: a lot of race and with the Costa da Vela as a judge.

2023-08-11: Rías Baixas: Sailway new leader after a desperate Combarro-A Pobra

On this occasion he played the typical day of the unwind of the jump between the Rias of Pontevedra and Arosa (Photo Juan Caballero)

Desperate second day of the 60 Rías Baixas Regata in which it has the support of Concello and Galicia Calidade (Xunta de Galicia), with an agonic stage due to the lack of wind between theoretically Commud and A Pobra do Caramiñal... because after a wait close to the hour it had to be converted between an Aguete- A Pobra.

The Swan Magic (Julio Rodríguez, RCN Vigo) was the first to cover the finally 22.20 miles (19 for the ORC 4-5 and Open 2)... at the exit of the Ria de Pontevedra the free day wind, although in Camouco it amago appeared.

But the stage was already a save as you can. The Magic needed just over four hours (4: 02.50) to reach the finish line at A Pobra, with the Oils April in four minutes and seven seconds.

Interestingly where last year the oil ship first arrived - also on another day without vision - and the Swan 45 of the Pérez Canal was the first partial victory because it was premiered in that Rías, this time the compensated time took it from the provisional leadership in favor of the Sailay (Marítimo de Canido).

The Elan 37 with Ramón Ojea to the cane was third in real and first in compensation, thus facing the first position of General ORC 1-2-3 with 4 points. In the back, the Magic (5), Oils April (5) and Urbapaz (Fran Edreira, CN Cabanas). The rest, no chance of scoring.

Among the Open, Berlinguiño II (Andrés Campos), Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña) and REM (Joaquín Potel) managed to reach the marina of A Pobra before the time limit. In general, the Campos ship is a leader, with REM in the second square and the Salseiro in the third.

Tomorrow Saturday, third stage... as it is new to the last years... the Rías did not play Sanxenxo since 2019 and this A Pobra-Sanxenxo was last disputed in 2018, when the victory smiled to Julio Rodríguez.

2023-08-10: Oils April, Magic and Sailway first podium of the Rias Baixas

The fleet of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, an organization of this test in stages, gives first Balea Dous command between the ORC 4-5 and the Berlinguiño II, with Pedro Campos to the wheel, was imposed between the Open... the second stage, this Friday, between Comarto and A Pobra do Caramiñal, with departures scheduled at 13: 00 and 13: 30 (Photo Juan Caballero)

The first of the five stages in the sexagenary of the Rías Baixas Regata, which organizes the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo every summer, was for the Oils April of the brothers Jorge and Luis Pérez Canal of the first Viguese club after 17.50 miles, which has reached a background in terms of participation by bringing together only 39 ships... bad times for the lyrical.

For the Pérez Canal this triumph has a special meaning: 25 years ago of its first Rías, also with five stages but with two very different ports (Vigo-Aguete-Vilagarcía-A Pobra-Sanxenxo-Vigo) and the first oil version, nothing to do with this Swan 45 of 2001, premiered in the previous edition of the Rías.

With a 30-minute delay over the scheduled time when the wind did not start, the fleet took a quiet step along the Costa da Vela. Southwest wind with 7 knots, little wave but constant to face the passage from the viguese to the pontevedresa and no surprise: among the 1-2-3 ORC, the favorites have taken positions.

The July Rodríguez Swan 42 CS ended at 2: 06 minutes in real time of the Pérez Canal, which became 3: 44 in the corrected. Rodriguez, also with the Nautical's grompola, defends title and this just started. After them, the Sailway of Ojea, 8: 03 minutes on the offset. Urbapaz (Fran Edreira, CN Cabanas) and Ozosana (Cándido Couselo, CN León) are stalked from the fourth and fifth square of the provisional general.

Among the 4-5 ORC, Balea Dous (Luis María Pérez, RCN Rodeira), another usual winner of the Rías, Esquío (Alejandro Castro, Liceo de Bouzas) and A Píllara (Iago Ben, CND Riveira), are the first podium. They came in that order and in the corrected time nothing changed.

Among the Open, which made the same miles as the pure blood, the Berlinguiño II (Andrés Campos, RCN Sanxenxo) commands both in General Open 1-2 and in its class (Open 1), while in Open 2 the San Paio I (José Pérez, CN Rianxo) has first been positioned. In the general of this Open fleet, after the Sanxenxo ship are Salseiro (Manuel Blanco, RCN Coruña) and REM (Joaquín Potel).

The second stage, Combarro-A Pobra with jump to the Arousa River, is disputed on Friday with the same departure hours (at 13: 00 the 4-5 ORC and the Open 2 and at 13: 30 the rest) and 21 miles for the 4-5 ORC and Open 2 and 24 miles for the 1-2-3 ORC and the Open 1. The Battle of the Three Rias has only started.
