The 40-foot Archambault of the Gijón Bay Club... the Taxus Environment armed and patronized by Alfredo López is the first leader of the Xacovo Navega Transcantábrica Regata, which on Friday began in two of the three ports involved in this great project: Getxo Auara version of the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club and Gijón Abanca Version with the organization of the Gijonese Regatta Club and immersed in the Aproches Trophy.
As for the results of the height race with its 125 miles, Getxo-Gijón last Friday was in the way of Santander Bay, so the fleet is likely to reach the Gijón Sports Port on the afternoon of Saturday.
Puntuality in the San Lorenzo Ensenada where the Gijón-Abanca version was held, with a total of 15 participating ships. At four o'clock in the afternoon, the president of the Basque Vela Federation, the gipuzcoan Oriol Ruiz Cabestany (brother of the renowned and historic cyclist Donostiarra), completed the procedure of the exit to face a test of barlovento-sotavento, with ten miles of route.
A clear victory among those of the regatta class of which was the great favorite in the end: the RC 40 feet of Alfredo López, which was imposed both in real time and in compensation. The chrono of the spectacular Taxus environment was 01-49-17... to which the IMX40 Bull Box of Luis Noguera, which has the Italian Sebastiano Napoli of cane, which crossed the line of arrival to 00.06.12 in real, being the third (second in corrected) the X37 of Fernando Alonso, another of the favorites.

The Getxo-Auara Version through Santander last Friday
A lot of wind in the Abra de Vizcaya, when Eduardo García Santamarina began the procedure of leaving at the edge of the one in the afternoon. The fresh northwest indicated in the anemometer the 25 knots of speed, situation to which accompanies a wave of about two meters. The flotilla reached soon outside the Port of Bilbao, with Jon Garai in the head with his Archambault 35 Thelonius of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, with a sustained speed between 6 and 7 knots, which caused the cruises of the Getxo- Auara, which were located between the 5 and the 7 of the Bay, to be gradually separated from the following group with Marieta de Pedro Guijarro. With this navigation, and as long as you have sailed it until midnight between 50 and 60 miles and you will be subtracted just over half the distance between Getxo and Gijón... it is expected that from noon on Saturday the ships will begin to reach Gijón. For Sunday, the Xacobeo Version, which organizes the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña, already has a participation over the twenty cruises of the Galicia fleet.

2023-08-03: The Getxo-Auara and Gijón-Abanca versions mark the beginning of the Xacobeo Navega

In the Abra de Vizcaya, you will live 30 years later, an exit from the Transcantábrica, which returns to stay (Photo José Capello)
At 12: 00 in the morning, the Xacobeo Navega Transcantarium Regata will begin on Friday, which had to be reconsidered in terms of its planning... in view of the strong winds of these days in the Cantabric.
Despite all the problems of a meteor nature, the illusion of the clubs immersed in the front line: the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club de Getxo, the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón and the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña has been able to value the reference event of heavy sailing in the north and north-west of Spain, after many years of absence in the official calendar.
Finally they will be after the versions of the Xacobeo Navega: the Getxo-Auara that begins at 12: 00 in the morning of Friday with a 125-mile route between the ports of Getxo and Gijón. Four hours later, the Gijón-Abanca Version starts, with a wind race in San Lorenzo Bay, in asturian waters.
It should be noted that the centenary club Gijonés brings to the Transcantábrica its most emblematic event of heavy sailing: the Trophy Aproches, heir to the legendary Regata El Gaitero. For its part, the La Coruña Version will be held on Sunday with a start at three o'clock in the spectacular herculine bay. In total, a figure close to half a hundred is cut.
Also to highlight the collaboration of Class One Sails 50, for with the Transcantábrica, by moving to Getxo six units that score in its Interautonomous League, as third puncture test.
So I begin in the Abra vizcadino of the Auara Version, with a length of 125 miles in which the fleet will meet the promontories, of Cabo Mayor (35 miles from the exit), as well as the Quejo and Ajo cabos... also on the coast of Santanderina... passing through the ports of Castro Urdiales, Laredo, Santander in Cantabria... as well as of Ribadesella and Lassres in Asturias... it is foreseeable that the fleet begins its arrival to the Deportivo of Gijón on the afternoon, with at least one hour in the afternoon of the morning.

Among the favorites of this first round: Telonius patronized by Jon Garai of the Real Maritimo Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, which is an Archambault 35; Andarax Bi which is a Dufour 334 that has as a cane to Josu Portuladume based on the Nautical Club of Zumaia; Go Blue of the Real Club of the Nautical Castro Urdiales of Angel Herrerias that is a First 36.7... and Marieta de Pedro Guijarro with the X34 of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander.
In the asturian waters, at four o'clock, the Gijón Abanca Version, which is the Aproches Trophy of the Regatas Club, will be in line with the departure of a 20-year-old cruise, among which the Bullbox that has recently won the Vizcaya Championship in Las Arenas... considered the reference of the competitions concerning the Basque calendar... the IMX40 of Luis Noguera, which has as its patron the Italian Sebastiano Napoli, also managed to be second in the Vasca Regata in past days. It's probably the boat to beat.
Another strong one is the Taxus Medioambiente of the Club de Vela Bahia de Gijón by Alfredo Florez, which is a 40-foot Archambault... or the JOD35 Kayser by Alvaro Alegría Club de Regatas de Gijón.
For its part, with the La Coruña Xacobeo version already on Sunday in the Herculine bay of the hand of the Royal Nautical Club, the transcantabcal will be put to a point and end with a test for which there is a lot of atmosphere, and in which the winner of the Rías Altas Regata, the Atlantic 3D Impression... that patrons the Coruñés Guillermo Blanco, which has among others the Santanderino Alejo Gutiérrez and the lantern Elena Polaina, is the great favorite to victory.
2023-08-01: Transcantábrica-Xacobeo Navega, from Getxo to Gijón and La Coruña

After the problems of meteor... the Organization has shortened the competition to three days, with three different versions: Getxo-Auara, Gijón-Abanca and La Coruña-Xacobeo (Photo José Capeillo)
The strong timeless winds expected for this Wednesday and Thursday have significantly disrupted the programming of the Xacobeo Navega Transcantábrica Regata, which initially planned to start on Wednesday two of the Abra Vizcadno, of Getxo... by the hand of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club... to the port of Gijón. This event had illustriated all the nautical of the Cantabrian and Atlantic in the 1990s, celebrated with remarkable success its first edition in 1993, so they are 30 years of birth.
José Luis Azqueta and José Manu Loredo for the Marítimo del Abra, Rafael Olmedo and Estanislao Durán for the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, Antonio Pereda for the Marítimo de Santander, Rafael Munilla for the Real Club Náutico de San Sebastián, Joaquín Merediz for the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón, Aurelio Fernández Lage and Ricardo Castro for the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña and Juan López Oviedo for the Real Club Náutico de Portosín... had been the ones that achieved in a high quality of the Atlantic season.
The avatars of time were weakening the project, until it became a beautiful story, but passed... until the hand of the successors of the former fomenators, the project took strength and with the support of the Xunta de Galicia, the Corporación Hijos de Rivera and Abanca, began to take shape. For this reason, despite the great difficulties being encountered on the way to the recovery of this great event, no one takes a step back and the bet is firm and determined by the different clubs that are within the great project.

A total of half a hundred cruises in all three versions (Photo José Capello)
The cathedral of the Spanish candle, the Real Club Marítimo del Abra - Real Sporting Club, as in the distant year of 1993, leads the project. 30 years ago José Luis Azqueta took over... now his son the Commodore of the club Vizcino José does. The also centenary Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón has put on the table its most powerful race of cruises on the initiative of its comandoro, Guillermo Marqués Prendes: the Trophy Aproches, to be part of the Xacobeo Navega... and in the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, it has been Jorge Etcheverría who has bet on this event, and has the total support of the fleet of the Gulf Artebro.
The sports director of the Getxo Club, Eduardo García Santamarina, the asturian director Eva Diez, that of the Coruñés Nautico David Conde, together with the president of the Basque Federation of Vela, Oriol Ruiz de Cabestany... are those who make up the technical cadre of the Transcantábrica Regata.
For Friday at the edge of the twelve, the Getxo Auara Version begins, an online 125-mile route from Vizcain waters, to Gijón... in which the notoriety will be in charge of the 50Plus +, case of Thelonius of Jon Garay of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club... Andarax Bi with Josu Portularrume of the Nautico of Zumaia or the Go Blue of Angel Herrerias of the Nautical Castro Urdial Club of Cantabria.
The Gijón Abanca version, which is the Aproches Trophy, will be held in the asturian waters, in which more than twenty cruises are gathered, with units with a high quality case of Bulbox by Luis Noguera of Puerto Ría de Aviles... the Environmental Taxi of the Gijón Bay Sailing Club or the Kayser of Alvaro Alegría of Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón or the GS1 of Fernando Alonso also of the Regatas Club. In the end, the Xacobeo Coruña Version on Sunday with twenty cruises that will compete in the Coruñesa era.
