The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) starts the 2016 Beach Monitoring Plan campaign on June 1. The Plan will control the quality of the waters of 252 beaches on the Catalan coast. All analytical data from the controls will be public and can be consulted through the ACA website and also using the PlatgesCat mobile phone application.
The controls analyse the microbiological quality indicators of seawater in accordance with the European bathing water directive. In addition, episodes of water quality change due to weather or sanitation incidents are also monitored.
The Beach Monitoring Plan has the collaboration of the rescue and rescue services of each of the municipalities involved. The controls will take place from 1 June to 18 September in a total of 265 bathing areas, in particular 252 beaches and 13 continental areas. The province where the most beaches will be controlled will be Girona, with a total of 87.
The results of the first analysis will be published on Friday, June 3 on the web gencat.cat / here, and the information on the PlatgesCat application will be updated daily from the 17th of this month.
