Pedreña has hosted this weekend the LXX Spanish Championship of Trainers, whose titles have been awarded Pasai Donibane, in females, Cabo de Cruz, in juveniles, and Zierbena, in absolute. The competition, which had the participation of 24 ships from Cantabria, Galicia and País Vasco, began on the afternoon of Saturday with the dispute of the expulsions. Yesterday, Sunday, it was the turn of the finals, first the consolation of young and absolute, and then those of honor.
The women were the first to fight the Flag in the waters of the Cudeyo Navy. Colindres was the only one left out of the finals when he marked the worst time in the qualifying race of the previous day. Pasai Donibane and Hibaika went out for all, reaching the second round with just a second difference in favor of the Sanjuandaras. From then on, the advantage was increasing to 9.73 seconds of rent in favor of those of San Juan, who stopped the chrono in 16: 36.59. Hibaika rose with the silver and Mecos medal with bronze, reaching 21 seconds from the pink champions. Cabo de Cruz and Chapela completed the classification.
The youth ending was very exciting and it was that until the last few meters the champion was not decided. Mecos dominated the race to the equator, where he arrived with a 2-second advantage over Cabo and 6 over Kaiku. However, in the third and last press conference, the Gruvenses were hooked up with a paddle, a moment that Cabo de Cruz and Kaiku took advantage of to take the lead. In the final line, the cruises only had to stand the pace to cross the finish line with 4.70 seconds of advantage over Kaiku and almost 9 over Mecos. Deusto and Pasai Donibane were 4th and 5th, respectively. The consolation band was won by Samertolameu in front of A Cabana, San Nicolás, Shipyard and Castro Urdiales.
Zierbena dominated the absolute final from the first pals, increasing the advantage over its rivals. It reached its goal in 14: 07.63, with an advantage of 6 over Pasai Donibane, and 12 over Shipyard, which completed the podium. Zierbena is thus made with the triple crown after winning the title Vizcino and the Basque, and revalidates the national title harvested in Santander waters. The Planchada and Tiran completed the final classification, while the host won the final consolation, followed by Samertolameu, Remo Moaña and Remo Puebla.
The president and vice-president of the Spanish Federation of Remo, Fernando Climent and Luis Mª Lasurtegui, the president of the Cantabra Federation of Remo, José Antonio Liaño, and the mayor of Pedreña, Severiano Ballesteros, among other authorities, were present.
