The announcement was made on Monday after the ratification by the International Association of World Games... the Dragon Boat will join the Kayak Polo and Marathon as sports of the International Federation of Piragüism in the program of the World Games.

The tenth edition of the World Games will take place from 7 to 17 August 2025, with 35 confirmed sports. The Dragon Boat was already present, by invitation, at the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung.4

The Dragon Boat races are a popular sport throughout China, which guarantees a large presence of participants during the 2025 World Games. IWGA sports director Sebastian Garvens said new sports will bring more excitement to this world sports event.
