The 2024 edition of the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy will take place on July 6 and 7, 2024 in Cascais

It was held in the beautiful Portuguese town of Cascais, the fourth edition of the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy: three days of race with a record number of participants in six sailing classes.

Recognized by UNESCO as an event of the Ocean Decade thanks to the work of the race in promoting and raising funds for ocean health initiatives, the trophy is becoming one of the most prominent quotes of the European summer sailing calendar and an event of the highest level for the city of Cascais and the organizers Clube Naval de Cascais... was created in 2020 to help raise important funds for marine conservation, the registration quotas of the race focused on sustainability are donated to ocean health projects by the event founder, the Mirpuri Foundation.

171 ships in six classes competed at the event held in Cascais Bay, a popular European tourist destination considered the Riviera of Portugal and famous for its reliable north-west breeze that fills the bay in the summer months.

The three-day race started with the first day of the Snipe South European Championship... where the Belgians Manu Hens and Alexandre Tinoco dominated all sleeves except one and were proclaimed champions on Sunday after their great performance over the weekend. In the second, the entire fleet, composed of six hundred regatists of all classes, played two days of race with the support of the ship of the Portuguese navy NMP, which fired the ceremonial canyon out from its deck.

In the premium category of cruises, two classes competed both for the life-time trophy in real time, as well as for four titles per division in compensated time.

In the race the two giants of the fleet were faced: the impressive 106-foot Green Eyes superyacht and the Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team, a Cascais-based team that competed on board its VO65 Racing for the Planet recently completed The Ocean Race.

Sponsored by the triple Portuguese Olympic regatist Diogo Cayolla, the crew fought hard to get the victory in real time both days and get this way and for the third time the impressive Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy trophy.

In the frenzy compensated time race, the Syone Panther took home the first prize in the ORC division, while the 2Hot2Handle won the ORC B.

In the NHC division, "Gurosan / Pedemar" was made with the first position and "Barba Rija" was classified as the fastest in time compensated in the NHC mini division.

In the former Olympic class Finn, Filipe Silva's dominant performance allowed him to win the six sleeves, while Tiago Morais was made with the victory in the SB20 dyghy class.

In the popular junior Optimist class, where more than seventy boats competed, the winner was Diogo Reis. Karolina Leite was first in the female division and Luisa Neumann won in the category of under 12 years.
