Platoon wins the Royal Cup Menorca and Provides leads the 52 Super Series

The Platoon of the German shipowner Harm Müller-Spreer was proclaimed champion of the Menorca 52 Super Series Royal Cup, his third consecutive victory in a headquarters where he already won in 2019 and 2021. The 52 Super Series arrived in Menorca with Providenza as a great favorite after having been imposed in the first two events of the season, but Platoon left with the best palmaris in the Menorcan headquarters, where he won in the last two visits of the circuit in 2019 and 2021. After five intense days of competition, the Royal Cup was decided in the final meters of the last test, reaffirming the hegemony of the German ship in Menorca waters.
The last day began with a menu of two tests and doubts about the wind, but the 7-9 knots of intensity were sufficient to guarantee the TP52 show. Sled, Providenzza and Platoon led the start of the first manga, but Alegre was able to wait for his time to take command in the middle of the road and set a course for the first partial victory for the shipowner and tymonel Andy Soriano since September 2022. The second position of Providzza allowed the Turkish ship to tie with the leader Platoon (fourth) on the Menorca provisional and leave everything to decide in the final assault.
Completed three of the five events, and added the results of the 28 trials disputed, Provides consolidated leadership in the general circuit. The boat in which the Spaniards compete Nacho Postigo, Joan Fullana and Matthew Barber arrived in Menorca with seven points of advantage over Quantum Racing powered by American Magic and left the island with 19 of rent over Platoon, which ascended to second position thanks to the poor result of the American team, sixth.
The program of the 52 Super Series 2023 continues next month in Barcelona, where the fourth meeting of the season will be held. Ten teams will compete from 21 to 26 August for the world crown at the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023, based in Marina Vela Barcelona.

2023-07-08: 52 Super Series: Platoon recovers leadership in the absence of the final in Menorca

The fourth day of competition of the Menorca 52 Super Series Royal Cup led the nine teams in front of the Air Island, south of Menorca, where the Regata Committee led by the alicantina María Torrijo found the necessary breeze to continue to add partial to the lockers of the nine teams.
The first manga began with about 12 knots of wind and a remarkable wave in favor of the fleet... the test was resolved in extremis, when the total disappearance of the breeze left the ships on the ground.
After an excellent race, Sled arrived first but without pressure, touched the buoy of arrival and had to be penalized as he saw impotent how up to seven rivals were collided. Platoon was the most beneficial, dating in just one sigh from the seventh to the first position. Alegre was also to be penalized for an incident with Protenzza, from the second place planned to the seventh final.
The second of Protenzza caused a momentary tie to the front of the provisional between the Turkish ship and the German leader. The lottery also favoured Vayu, who went from eighth to third in the same goal.
The eighth manga of the week was to be critical to the aspirations of the teams for the final day. After the wind had disappeared, the Committee quickly moved the field back to the north, where the breeze had recovered to the 11-12 knots of the north component, almost opposite that of the previous test.
On this occasion he did hold until the entire fleet completed the tour. Platoon took the initiative from the first meters with a masterful exit of the shipowner and timonel Harm Müller-Spreer and the tactical Vasco Vascotto, to uncompromising his second partial consecutive victory, which was to consolidate his leadership at the head of the table. Paprec was imposed on Providzza on the same line of arrival.
The 52 end tomorrow in Menorca with two tests scheduled from 12: 30. The classification shows the leader Platoon with two income points on Providenza, eight on Gladiator and ten on Alegre. In a fleet of nine teams, and in a competition without discards, the identity of the champion will only be known in the last sleeve.

2023-07-07: Change of leader in the Royal Cup of Menorca... Provides takes over

The Menorca 52 Super Series Royal Cup competition program continues to advance at a good pace. For the third consecutive day, the race field established in front of the mouth of the port of Mahon presented good conditions.
In the first of the day, Alpha + and Quantum Racing powered by American Magic made out of line and were forced to return, while by the bow Gladiator escaped. The ship of the shipowner Tony Langley and the timonel Guillermo Parada bet on the same right side for which he managed to build his historical double on the previous day.
Paprec took away his lead at the end of the first stretch, but the British ship tempered nerves and overtook his rival in a dramatic, final-built, 16-second disadvantage against the French. Gladiator became the first team to chain three consecutive partial wins since September 2021, when Alegre triplete the last visit of the circuit to Menorca. And it was precisely Alegre (third in this test) who was placed in the head of the provisional, taking the lead from a Platoon who signed a painful eighth.
The sixth manga of the week began with an off-line Platoon, which sent the leader of the first two days to the line of the platoon. The American Sled was the best of the first stretch, followed by the Turkish Protenzza and the French Paprec. The team led by the shipowner Ergin Imre and the tymonel John Cutler took advantage of the first set to take the lead, followed by a fast Quantum Racing powered by American Magic.
A penalty for Alegre ruined Andy Soriano's team's options to return leader to the Mahono Maritime Club, while Provizza was heading towards a very valuable victory that placed the team in which the Spanish Nacho Postigo, Joan Fullana and Matthew Barber compete as a new leader in Menorca... tomorrow more than 12: 30.

2023-07-06: 52SuperSeries: Platoon remains leader after a second day in the gladiator glow

The team of the British shipowner Tony Langley and the Argentine timonel Guillermo Parada was impeccable on the second day of competition of the Menorca 52 Super Series Royal Cup. Second day for the Menorca 52 Super Series which already adds up to four sleeves held in two days, Platoon remains in front of the provisional, although the undisputed protagonist of the day was Gladiator.
In the first test of the day, the Thai Vayu and the Hongkonese Alpha + did off-line and had to repeat the exit maneuver, condemned to stay in line with the platoon to the finish line. Gladiator was the first to complete the first quarter of the tour, followed by Platoon and Quantum Racing powered by American Magic.
Despite the efforts of the team led by Harm Müller-Spreer and Vasco Vascotto to to hunt the leader, the tandem formed by the Argentine timonel Guillermo Parada and the British shipowner Tony Langley was able to withstand the pressure and sign his second partial victory of the season.
In the second test, Alpha + amended its previous error with an excellent output that allowed the Hong Kong team to stand in front and lead the first stretch. Gladiator was riding a second buoy, while an incident between Vayu and Sled left the Thai ship out of combat and with a broken botalon to Takashi Okura, who decided to remain in a race.
Gladiator managed to overcome the leader in the third and penultimate stretch, delaying towards his historic second consecutive victory. The British ship, on which the canary David Vera sailed, made its excellent performance to rise from the last to the fifth position in the provisional general.
The collision between Sled and Vayu was settled at the end of the day with three points for the Whitcraft family ship and a compensation for that of Takashi Okura, which scored 4.5 points despite crossing the goal in eighth position. For tomorrow third day of competition from 12: 30 in the morning.

The first day of competition of the Menorca 52 Super Series Royal Cup was resolved with two partials in the lockers of the nine teams, which enjoyed wind conditions in the range of 12 knots in both sleeves. Platoon and Sled were awarded the victories on the first day of the menorcan quote.
Punctuality at the beginning and arrival at buoy at the end of the first stretch led to an authentic melé that caused penalties for Quantum Racing powered by American Magic and Gladiator.
The Turkish Provenzza snuck into the fleet to start the first built-in leader, starting a pulse with the German Platoon that favored the ship of the shipowner and timonel Harm Müller-Spreer, first in the next step by buoy. The Thai Vayu joined the duel and the three teams occupied the head positions to the finish line.
The second position served Protenzza to temporarily extend its leadership in the general circuit and Vayu reaffirmed with a third party the excellent state in form he showed at the previous event, held in Scarlino.
In the second manga the best in the first stretch was the American Sled of Takashi Okura, with Protenzza and Quantum Racing by American Magic surprisingly closing the passage by buoy, where the wind had already risen to the 12 knots to keep in that range the rest of the test. Sled would be able to defend his position despite the determined attacks of Alegre and Platoon to score the victory. Tomorrow morning after 12: 30 in the morning.
