World Wind in Gran Canaria spectacular closing day in Pozo Izquierdo

The queen of Pozo, with 22 victories at home, retains the crown after defeating the arubense Sarah-Quita Offringa at the end of the double female elimination... the grancanary Marino Gil, the great surprise of this championship, remains at the door of the first post after the double male elimination against the Brazilian Marcilio Browne
Pozo Izquierdo lived a tremendous closing day... with a second round that filled the stands in support of Daida Ruano, the queen of Pozo Izquierdo who extended her reign for another year, and the new local hero, Marino Gil, who stood at the door of conquering the title that finally retained the Brazilian Marcilio Browne.
During this last day, Daida left the public in Pozo Izquierdo without encouragement, after winning a half-time ending after breaking his mast in the first jump. After a few minutes of concern that was noticed in the stands, Daida got a second team and returned to the charge. Fortunately at that time, Sarah- Quita Offringa did not add up almost points.
Despite the little wave, Daida leapt out of nowhere as always. Initially only a back loop gave him the advantage, until he landed an incredible stop forward just after trying the arubense, with which he shortened the difference in the marker to less than a point. The local rider then focused on the surfers, reaching a front 360, and the final leadership thanks to a final back loop (valued at 8.25 points).
Although Daida Ruano and Sarah- Quita Offringa retained the first and second place respectively, the double female elimination modified the podium even before they started, as Iballa Ruano lost the third place by not being able to compete due to a previous injury. Instead, it was the German Lina Erpenstein who took her place, after advancing in the classifications to challenge the Polish Justyna Sniady and, directly, to number two: the Sarah- Quita Offringa, without success.
The Philip Köster grancanary (competing for Germany) was the rider who gave the most game during the male classification of the double elimination despite being injured. In fact, since he went out in the water in his first manga against American Jake Schettewi, he outperformed British Robby Swift, Spanish Victor Fernández and Alessio Stillrich and German Leon Jamaer.
After so many victories and applause from the stands, it was the prince of the waves, Catalan Marc Paré, who held Köster just before he could challenge the third of the podium, Venezuelan Ricardo Campello, the current leader of the world wave ranking. Finally, it was Paré who got the third post of the podium after overcoming Campello, both in jumps and surfed waves.
2023-07-10: The Great Canaria Windsurf World Cup concludes tomorrow in Pozo Izquierdo

Daida Ruano during the simple elimination of the wave mode
Well Izquierdo reserves the last day of competition among the best in the world for tomorrow Sunday, with the double elimination male and female in Olas, in which the final champions of the Great Canaria Windsurf World Cup 2023 can be made known in this modality.
So far, the local rider of Pozo Izquierdo, Daida Ruano, leads the female and Brazilian modality, Marcilio Browne, the male, after winning the simple eliminations.
In the case of the double elimination, the local favorite rider, Marino Gil, would have a second chance to take the title from Olas to the three-time world champion, Marcilio Browne, who leads provisionally.
Another windsurfer that could change the results is Venezuelan Ricardo Campello, current world leader and third interim in Pozo Izquierdo. In addition, Catalan Marc Paré showed that he deserves a post in the podium, so the one known as the prince of the waves could find in the double elimination the pass from the fourth place to a place in the podium in Olas.
In the female category, if the double elimination is celebrated, Pozo Izquierdo could revive the exciting confrontation between the queen of Pozo, Daida Ruano, and her eternal rival, the arubense Sarah- Quita Offringa. During the last edition of the World Cup, Pozo Izquierdo lived an unparalleled ending between the Moreno Twins that vibrated the stands, a confrontation that will not be possible this year, as Iballa Ruano was recently injured.
Even so, the double elimination would allow the twenty-fold world champion, Sarah- Quita Offringa, to rechallenge Daida, who already accumulates 21 wins at home.
During this Saturday's day, Pozo Izquierdo has re-tested the riders of the male sub20 category with the celebration of double elimination, giving a second opportunity to challenge the riders that were made with the podium on a provisional basis this Friday.
The opportunity used by the Greek Lennart Neubauer, who took the second post of the podium from the Danish Tobias Bjornaa, and won the right to dispute the throne with the grancanary Liam Dunkerbeck, though without success.
2023-07-07: The canary Liam Dunkerbeck, winning sub20 in Pozo Izquierdo

Liam Dunkerbeck during the end of sub20
With 30 knots and little wave, Pozo Izquierdo has tested the male sub-20 category windsurfers in Olas on Friday, precisely because of their lack. However, the grancanary Liam Dunkerbeck seemed to find ramp in any manga, which has led him to recrown in sub20 for the second consecutive year in Pozo Izquierdo, after defeating the Danish Tobias Bjornaa in an exciting final.
Dunkerbeck, the world's current number 20 ranking in Olas, kept surfing in a solid way on all his sleeves, although during the final he had difficulty landing the jumps. Even so, the jump that gave him the victory was foot backloop (jump back into the air, turning his body and board at the same time, with the addition of putting a foot out, which adds up points). The third place in the class was for the Greek Lennart Neubauer.
After living the exciting end of the sub20 class, senior Riders have also played a lot in Pozo Izquierdo, especially during a very tight heart attack final in points between the local legend of Pozo Izquierdo, Dario Ojeda, and the British Ben Profitt, who managed to win thanks to the surfers he carried to the rocks, according to commentators. In fact, the British had to go out even to change the table.
The last time the grancan rider Ojeda competed in Pozo Izquierdo was five years ago in the discipline of male Waves with the best in the world, among which he was always on top 10... following the canary rider, another Spanish, Toni Pijoan, was made with the third place among the Masters.
2023-07-06: The Canaries Alexia and Carlos Kiefer triumph in Pozo Izquierdo

The original brothers of Gran Canaria, but competing for Germany, are crowned in sub20 and sub17 categories... the Belgian Sol Degrieck and the Japanese Ryomi Sugi go up to the podium in sub17 and sub15
The younger windsurfers are seen this Thursday in the waters of Pozo Izquierdo, with suitable conditions of constant wind, around the 30 knots, which have again favored the grancanaria, Alexia Kiefer, who again triumphs in Pozo Izquierdo in the sub20 female category, after overcoming the tipeña Isabel Triviño and the tierfeña María Morales.
The other great protagonist of the day was Alexia's brother, Carlos Kiefer, who was crowned in the male sub17 class, after defeating the Belgian Arthur Van den Brande in a final in which the grancanary rider was lured with a double forward valued with the highest score by the judges (10 points).
Among the Riders under the age of 17, the Belgian Sol Degrieck again stands out in Pozo Izquierdo, reigning in the class with only 13 years, a category that she conquered in the last edition of the Gran Canaria World Cup the Tierfeña María Morales, who does not compete this year in sub17.
Along with Degrieck, the local rider of Pozo Izquierdo, Annagiulia Piccaglia, goes up to the podium in second place, next to the Spanish Lizzlotte Schilling Andrew.
During the day, the male sub15 final was also held with a very equal ending between the Spanish Javier Escribano and the Japanese Ryomi Sugi, who had to unpack. Finally, Sugi surpassed the Tarifean windsurfer thanks to the score in surfed waves.
Tomorrow Friday the seventh day of the Gran Canaria World Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin with the competition in the category male sub20, Master + 40 and + 45 and the double eliminations in Waves, both male and female, if the conditions of wind and waves allow.
2023-07-05: Blanca Paliau and Enrico Marotti Slalom World Champions in the Canary Islands

The Sevillana and the Croat are proclaimed world champions of the discipline of the Great Canary World Cup 2023, second test of the PWA world circuit
With 30 knots and many falls of the Riders who have competed in foil, Pozo Izquierdo has lived with adrenaline the finals of the Slalom races of the female and male category, in which they were proclaimed as class world champions in Gran Canaria the Spanish Blanca Paliau (19.2 points) and the Croatian Enrico Marotti (18.1 points), who led the classification during the three days of the World Cup.
During the five races held on Wednesday in the female category, the French Marion Mortefon and the British Jenna Gibson were held with two wins each, while Paliau managed to win at the end of the second round.
However, after applying the corresponding discards of its three worst scores, the arubense Sarah-Quita Offringa (25.4) premiered with a second place in Slalom in Gran Canaria, in addition to the second provisional in Olas, followed by Marion Mortefon (33.8) and Jenna Gibson (38.1).
In the male fleet, the Croatian Enrico Marotti (18.1) managed to maintain the Slalom crown in Gran Canaria thanks to the two discards corresponding to the ten races held, in addition to winning a final of the three contested on Wednesday.
The other two victories of the day have been taken by the German Nicolas Prien (who remains in the top 5 but loses the third place of the classification) and the Italian Bruno Martino, who ends ninth on the island. Finally, the second place of the podium in Gran Canaria is preserved by Maciek Rutkowski (Poland), the current world ranking leader and winner of the first Slalom test of the PWA tour, held in Italy. In both Gran Canaria and internationally, it is still French Pierre Mortefon who closely follows the Polish, after being third on the island and second on the PWA World Tour Ranking.
The expected wind and wave conditions will allow you to resume the competition in the Wave mode of the Windsurfing World Cup. Previsibly, Pozo Izquierdo will see the youth compete, highlighting the sub17 and sub20 categories. Among the local favorites are the grancanaries Liam Dunkerbeck, Julia Pasquale and Alexia Kiefer (competing for Germany), in addition to the Tuscan Maria Morales.
2023-07-04: White Praise and Enrico Marotti maintain leadership in Slalom

The sevillana was the fastest in three of the five races and the Croatian retains the first place despite not getting any first place... tomorrow the class world champions will be known
More than 25 constant knots in Pozo Izquierdo has again seen the Spanish Blanca Paliau fly over the water, who maintains the leadership of the classification with 10.5 points, after being the fastest in three of the five races held on Tuesday, as well as getting a second place and a fourth place.
By stalking the Spanish rider, both the arubense Sarah-Quita Offringa (17.4 points) and the French Marion Mortefon (24.4 points) achieved a victory each, in addition to keeping in top 5 in most sleeves.
The windsurfer who has not been so lucky this time has been the current world ranking leader and winner of the first Slalom test of the PWA world circuit, the French Justine Lemeteyer, who loses the third temporary post of the podium to Mortefon, while also seeing her leadership to Blanca Palau be threatened.
In the male category, the Slalom podium is still headed by the Croatian Enrico Marotti with 8.4 points, but with difficulties, as it lost in part control in some of the sleeves held during the four races of the day, in which it did not get there first, but it remained in top 5.
Specifically, it was the current world leader, Polish Maciek Rutkowski, who took his victory in the first race, although it did not have very good results in the rest. "The conditions are hard in Pozo Izquierdo, I think it was better to use keel than foil, but it is still tomorrow and I will fight for the first place," said the winner of the first Slalom test of the PWA tour, held in Italy, and the second of the provisional classification in Pozo Izquierdo.
Along with Marotti and Rutkowski, the Italian Matteo Iachino took the third place of the podium, as he took the German, Nicolas Prien, who took the fifth place in the general ranking, behind the French Pierre Mortefon, current number two of the world ranking.
2023-07-03: Spain and Croatia lead slalom races in Pozo Izquierdo

The sevillana Blanca Pámau and the Croatian Enrico Marotti lead the general classification of the race discipline of the Gran Canaria Windsurf World Cup, second stop of the PWA world circuit
Pozo Izquierdo has vibrated this Monday for the first time after 14 years with Slalom races in which they reached 80 kilometers per hour, in which they have competed more than 35 riders between the male and female category.
Initially the 28 windsurfers of the male category have come out into the water, a fleet led by Marotti, who managed to arrive first in all the sleeves disputed during the first and second round and maintaining a third place at the end of the third round (0.7, 0.7, 3.0), leading the classification at the moment with 4.4 points.
Following Marotti closely, there is the current world class ranking leader, Polish Maciek Rutkowski, who also managed to cross the finish line in the first place during the first sleeves, but was disqualified during the end of the first round.
Even so, the winner of the first trial of the PWA in Slalom held in Italy managed to hold second place at the end of the second and third round (8.0, 2.0, 2.0). Another name that is placed in the third place of the provisional podium of Slalom is that of the German, Nicolas Prien. It should be noted that all the podium Riders used the fire during all the sleeves.
In the female category, the Spanish Blanca Paliau has surprised during the races of her class, despite not having started well in the first round, she achieved two first positions, although quite adjusted in the final against the arubense Sarah-Quita Offringa.
Along with the Spanish rider, the arubense Sarah- Quita Offringa was also luciated during the races held, keeping a second temporary position ahead of the French Justine Lemeteyer.
2023-07-02: Windsurf World Cup: Queen of Pozo, Daida Ruano

The local rider holds the crown on a provisional basis, after overcoming the twenty-time world champion, Sarah-Quita Offringa, who got to the final this year, after a manga against Ibala Ruano
Without falling from the 25 knots during the second day in Pozo Izquierdo, the looks have been put again in the Moreno Twins during the classifications of the female category in Olas and in its main and eternal adversary in Pozo Izquierdo, the twenty-time champion of the world, the arubense Sarah- Quita Offringa, who this year managed to reach the final to challenge the queen of Pozo, Daida Ruano, who reheld the crown at home provisionally during the simple elimination.
During an end of heart attack, the local favorite began to drag home with an initial forward loop to which the arubense responded with the same maneuver, almost planning. Although both competitors had difficulty finding ramp during the final, Daida kept adding points despite the little wave. However, the score was quite adjusted, but Pozo's original windsurfer managed to overcome Offringa with its best surfed wave, in addition to the sum of its two best jumps, closing the heat a beautiful tablet forward and applause from the stands.
During the expected semi-final between Ibala Ruano and the arubense Sarah-Quita Offringa, the local rider began with a clean forward loop, encouraging the environment in the stands. However, the manga was so frowned that both competitors remained with the same score for several minutes, although Iballa managed to impose it by a few tenths in the middle of the heat thanks to the score obtained in surfed waves. Finally, during the last minute, Offringa received 7.38 points for the effort to make a backloop that led it directly to the final against the queen of Pozo, Daida Ruano.
At the same time as the Windsurfing World Cup, Pozo Izquierdo is again celebrating the Red Bull Rockets competition, by measuring the highest jumps of the Riders through a specialized app. After the opening day of the women's category in Olas, it was surprisingly not Daida Ruano who managed to fly higher, but the young German rider, Lina Erpenstein, who positions herself as the current leader of this ranking with a 5.3-meter jump.
2023-07-01: The Canary Marino Gil protagonist in Pozo Izquierdo

Mariano Gil the protagonist of the opening day
Pozo Izquierdo has received more than 150 competitors from over 15 countries around the world with unbeatable conditions, over 40 knots of wind and big waves during the first day, which has allowed the best in the world to compete in the male discipline of Olas.
Marino Gil was luciated during the final getting the best jump of the competition with a push loop forward valued with the highest score by the judges, this same jump being the highest of the day with 11.6 meters, so the grancan competitor not only makes the second place of the podium on a provisional basis, but also closes the day leading the ranking of high jumps of the simultaneous competition of the Red Bull Rockets.
Previously, the semi-final against the current PWA world ranking leader began strong, with a stalled double forward by Ricardo Campello who enjoyed both the same Venezuelan competitor and the public.
Then, Marino Gil responded with a solid push forward, but Campello maintained the leadership thanks to a perfect push forward that he launched in front of the canary rider. It was not until the last moment that Marino Gil managed to land an one- foot backloop that gave him the victory.
During the competition for the third post in the podium, the current world leader, Venezuelan Ricardo Campello managed to take the place from the Catalan, Marc Paré, during the simple elimination.
