52SuperSeries: all prepared in Menorca for the third act

After the exciting races of Saint-Tropez and Scarlino, the rest of the 52 Super Series 2023 will be resolved with three events in Spain... the first will bring together the fleet from 4 to 9 July in the historic port of Mahon to dispute the appointment of Menorca Royal Cup with the looks set on the Turkish Protenzza, the leading provisional leader of the circuit after imposing itself in the races of France and Italy (Photo Nico Martínez)
The Provider of the Turkish shipowner Ergin Imre surprised his rivals by imposing themselves on the first two events of the year. The team led by New Zealand's John Cutler, in which the Cantabrian navigator Nacho Postigo and the Balar bow Joan Fullana compete, comes with a seven-point margin over the champion 2022, the Quantum Racing powered by American Magic by American Doug DeVos, and 20 ahead of the German Platoon of Harm Müller-Spreer.
Menorca, with its open race area, especially likes the teams. The Balearic Island is too small to generate the strong and reliable sea breezes of, for example, Palma Bay, but there are no significant geographical accidents affecting the breeze. On land, the beautiful old town and its sea-front leisure area are very popular with tourists. As host, the Mahono Maritime Club is a quality guarantor in the organization of the event.
This year's visit will be the fifth of the 52 SUPER SERIES to Menorca. In September 2021, only five sleeves could be played and the winner was Platoon, ahead of Alegre and Quantum Racing. In the 2019, which was held in May to eight sleeves, he also won the German team, followed by Protenzza and Quantum Racing. In 2017 he won Azzurra and in 2016 Quantum Racing was crowned TP52 World Champion.
The event will play one of the most coveted trophies in the class: the Royal Cup. Known as Royal Cup Challenge Trophy, it was originally held in the class IMS 50, which was donated in 1995 by its owners, King Harald of Norway, Pasquale Landolfi, Willi Illbruck and Yannis Costopoulos. The current owner is Quantum Racing.
Provizza raised the Royal Cup in 2019, has a good record in Menorca and this year they seem to enjoy a great shape state. Given its good speed, its good exits and the regularity shown in the first two races of the season, there are many possibilities that Provizza will win again.
