Next Friday at 7: 00 in the afternoon, in an event held jointly by the Alvargonález Foundation and Ateneo Jovellanos, the Hall of Acts of the Old Institute Culture Center welcomes the conference: Ukraine, a war of another century; which will be given by the retired admiral and expert in this war, Juan Rodríguez Garat... Ramón Alvargonález, director of the Alvargonález Foundation, will be in charge of presenting the admiral.

Admiral Rodríguez Garat joined the Navy in 1974. Since his graduation in 1979, he remained in afloat destinations for 24 years. This period includes the eight sea controls: "Alsedo" patrol, "Diana" corbeta, "Alvaro de Bazán" frigate, 31st Escolta Squad, NATO Standing Group No. 1 (SNMG-1), Fleet Projection Group, European Union Force in Operation Atalanta and Spanish Maritime High Availability Headquarters (SPMARFOR).

On the ground, Admiral Rodríguez Garat was a professor of organization at the School of Naval War and held various positions in the Starfleet General Staff, the Cabinet of the AJEMA and the Navy General Staff, where he held the command of the Division of Operations and the Sections of Strategic Planning and Media Definition and RecurssHe was a General Staff Diploma in the United Kingdom and has a Master in Defence Studies by King's College (University of London).

Ascended to Admiral in 2015, he was Chief of Staff of the Navy and, from 2016 until his move to the reserve situation in September 2018, Admiral of the Fleet. In the reserve, he served for three years as Director of the Institute of Naval History and Culture. Retired since May 2021, he continues to work on books, articles and conferences on issues related to national defence, naval history and the Ukrainian War.
