The victory took place after an intense duel in which several of the fastest contenders turned into the rock of Giraglia, the emblematic milestone that it exercises of natural and virtual beacon point between the legendary journey between Saint- Tropez and Genoa. It was from there that Black Jack 100 took the lead of the test so he wouldn't give it up until he got to the destination.
The latest Rolex Giraglia editions offered epic battles for victory in real time. In the commemoration of the 70 years of the classic Mediterranean ocean, just over nine minutes separated the first two classified after almost 24 hours of intense competition.
The first to cross the finish line in Genoa was Peter Harburg's Black Jack 100. The 100-foot-long Australian Maxi (30.5 meters) stopped the crone at 11: 33: 16 on the second day of competition, setting a time of 23 hours, 30 minutes and 16 seconds.
The Magic Carpet Cubed by Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, three times a real-time Rolex Giraglia winner, kept pushing his rival, but little he could do to neutralize it. The British Maxi, in which the Spanish were sailing Antonio 'Ñeti' Cuervas- Mons, Carlos Pareja, Carlos Ruigómez 'Puro', Willy Altadill, Carlos Hernández and Juan Meseguer, finished nine minutes and twelve seconds from the winner.
An international fleet of 155 ships takes part in the 70th edition of the Rolex Giraglia, an entire institution among the high-rise races of the Mediterranean that was held for the first time in 1953 and this year it runs 215 nautical miles (398 km) from Saint-Tropez (France) to Genoa (Italy)... decided the title of winner in real time, the attention is focused on who will rise with the general victory in compensated time.

2023-06-14: Rolex Giraglia to a 70 historical edition with 155 ships

An international fleet of 155 ships gathered in front of the French port of Saint- Tropez to start the historic 70th edition of the Rolex Giraglia, one of the largest ocean races in the Mediterranean since its birth in 1953
The 100-foot Maxi in length Magic Carpet Cubed is one of the top candidates for the coveted title of real-time winner and the active boat with the largest palmaris in the race (it was the fastest in 2013, 2016 and 2022, and absolute champion in 2015).
Among its rivals is the Black Jack 100, which in its previous version as Esimt Europa 2 set the current race record in 2012: 14 hours, 56 minutes and 16 seconds. In the last nine editions of the race, only twice the real-time winner managed to complete the tour in less than 24 hours.
The absolute victory in compensated time is the most coveted prize, and last year's winner, Italian Lisa R, is among the candidates of this edition to try a very complicated defense of the title.
Weather forecasts point to an unstable wind edition, which will test the crew's ability especially in navigation and strategy.
