The Ribera de Baiona Beach hosted on Saturday the sixth edition of the Solar Regata that convenes each year Marine Instruments.
First they took off the ships from the shore, guided by the attendees to the starting line and led by the pilots. Technical procedure in discounted time, to face two tests. The first speed, being the second of skill and resistance, with a turn to the simple circuit, the start, and with two the most complex, of gymkhana between buoys.
The winner of this first combined series was the Bricolabs 2, from A Coruña, in Open; and Las Acacias, in Educational Centres. In the Open Solar Regata was second the A-023, of Vigo, and third the Madrileño Solar Scavenger, being the silver in schools for Colexio Apostle Santiago, and the bronze for the IES San Mamede.
In Carrera de Empresas Solares, played on a "ad- hoc" mounted circuit on the basketball courts of Paseo de La Palma, the Coruñes of Bricolabs would also take the win in Open, being in Educational Centres the great winner Apostolo 23C, of the Colexio Apostle Santiago de Vigo.
Second positions in Open for OpRobots - Franky Tank, A Guarda and for Montecastelo, staying in the third EGM step of Madrid and Lasar / SunRay of the College of Saint Angel, respectively.
The design awards were awarded by the Jury to Solar Scavenger in Madrid in Open; and to OP Robots in A Guarda in School Centres.
The award was presided over by Jesús Vázquez Almuiña, as the first official act after his inauguration as the new mayor of Baiona, and was accompanied by Mirian Ramos, from the Marine Instruments Marketing Department, and from much of the new municipal group.

The sixth edition of the Solar Regata is held on Saturday in the waters of Baiona, by the hand of Marine Instruments, with the sponsorship of the Concello de Baiona, Gadis, Coca Cola, TuyPan and the collaboration of the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona.
On the Playa de la Ribera, 300 schoolchildren from various Spanish provinces will have to demonstrate their innovative designs of solar ships and cars, powered by solar energy and with the encouragement of the emotion provided by any sporting event, as the pilots have to demonstrate their expertise to the rest of the opponents.
The Solar Regata is a competition that Marine Instruments launched in 2016 in the field of secondary education and vocational training centres, to support and promote the development of technological innovation among students, as well as to promote the spirit of creativity.
