"La Ruta Marítima O Cabaleiro das Cunchas" is launched with 25 ships

When they brought to Galicia the Body of the Apostle Santiago, past Portugal, already on the coast of Galicia, in a place called Bouzas (who in 1904 joined Vigo) a wedding was held between a beautiful lady and a gentilman. Young and very important and well-known families. The groom's family came from Amaia, in the Kingdom of Galicia. He was the son of Queen Claudia Lupa, daughter of Cayo Julio Caesar and his first wife Cornelia to whom he left in Spain on his second coming. His father was Lobo Lobesio, Lord of the Lupario Castle next to Padron (20 km south of Santiago), and to whom Emperor Augusto made Réclus of Galicia.
The xacobea maritime route, "O Cabaleiro das Cunchas," is from the facilities of the Bouzas Maritime Liceum and offers the possibility to achieve the Compostelana. The seventh and shortest race, following which other nautical itineraries have emerged, consists of six stages that go from this Saturday to 9 a.m. and until the next 6 August the Portuguese coast and the Ries of Vigo, Pontevedra, Arousa and Muros, ending in the Cathedral of Santiago, when they will return to Bouzas, after passing through the island of San Simón. Once they arrive in the Galician capital, after docking in the port of Cabo de Cruz, the crew will come down from their ships to carry out a walking stage from Mount do Gozo, to offer the Apostle Santiago. 25 ships from Portugal, France and Galicia will sail for 200 nautical miles.
The Maritime Route "O Cabaleiro das Cuncha," is organized by the Association of Friends of the Maritime Route of the Apostolo Santiago to Galicia. This year's edition will be held between July 30 and August 6 by means of the practice of navigation in "conserved," with the aim of a navigation in several stages from the Portuguese coast and the Rias of Vigo, Pontevedra, Aroua and Muros ending with a road pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago. The navigation will not be competitive and commemorates the Route of the Transfer of the remains of the Apostle Santiago to Galicia.
A varied programme of activities is being developed in the various host ports where aspects, cultural, gastronomic and leisure will have a unique relevance. The "conserved" navigation has the charm and uniqueness that the expedition takes place with ships in sight and in permanent contact with the elements of safety and accompaniment. The Organization is responsible for the management of the raids and public events are held at each host port.

The meeting with the tradition of Jacobea customs and the practice of sailing sport was presented this afternoon at the facilities of the Bouzas Maritime Liceum, during a reception attended by representatives of public institutions and private entities that make it possible, including its founder Paulino Freire, the Delegate in Vigo de la Xunta de Galicia, Ignacio López Chaves; the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Antonio Coello; the manager of the Xacobeo Plan, Rafael Sánchez; the President of the Bouzas Maritime Liceum, José María Bosch, the Director of the Marítima, Santiago de la Amítima, and the Director of the Marítima, Javier de la Aítima;
