The Port of Palamós, the third most important in Catalonia after those in Barcelona and Tarragona, as to the number of ships that he receives from both tourist and merchandise cruises, has received on Sunday the passenger number 300,000. This has been an important event in a town of 18,000 inhabitants and has been consolidated as one of the most active ports of the Mediterranean and the main cruise and goods destination of the Costa Brava. The 300,000 cruise tourists have reached 357 cruises over 17 years, between 2000 and 2016, a period in which it has generated an economic impact of almost 19 million euros on the territory.
In 2010 the Port of Palamós celebrated the arrival of the passenger 100,000, number celebrated in eleven years, which separated in 2000 and 2010. From then on, the gerundense port had a strong growth. The year 2013 received the passenger 200,000 and in three more years it has done so 300,000. This remarkable increase in passengers places the facilities with an average of 36,000 passengers per season in the last five years.

The passenger 300,000 was a German tourist who first visited Palamós on board the Artania. The mayor of the villa, Lluís Puig, accompanied by representatives of Costa Brava Cruise Ports, the brand that promotes the ports of Palamós and Roses and its destination in the cruise market, gave the visitor and her companion a bouquet of flowers and various gifts.
From Monte-Carlo to Barcelona
The Artania is a ship of the German company Phoenix Reisen Cruises that this Sunday has made its first staircase with 1,112 mainly German passengers and half a thousand crew. The ship has arrived in Palamós from the French port of Monte-Carlo and its next destination was Barcelona.
The cruise has a length of 231 meters, a sleeve of 32 meters, an 8-meter driveway and a tonnage of 44,588 tons. The Artania has 8 decks, 594 all outdoor cabins, 3 restaurants, 7 bars, 2 swimming pools, dance room, theatre, library, jacuzzi and spa.
