Lidia Zornoza and Nicolas Lambert winners in female and male K1, respectively... the Scooter Club of Algemesí dominates the classification of clubs with 415 points

The Xúquer River has become the epicenter of the Pyragüism this weekend with the 61 edition of the International Descens of the Xúquer that has again hit record participation with a total 405 palists in its two modalities: competitive and popular.

The competitive mode of this river test that recovers the historic Davallada del Xúquer has brought together some of the best palists of the national and international territory this weekend, who have been able to know first hand the Valencian waters in different sections of the river.

The Saturday day, which was held between Sumacàrcer and Antella, began with the popular descent, which hung the full poster with 130 participants of all ages. In the afternoon, the first test of competitive mode brought together 165 athletes from six nationalities and a total of 24 clubs. Spain, Denmark, Italy, Belarus, France and Portugal were the six developing nations.

The Sunday day, held in Algemesí, has served to complete the classification in its different categories. The Scooter Club of Algemesí, with 415 points, was able to rise with the triumph in the category of clubs, followed by the Club Crestuma of Portugal, with 294 points, and the Real Club Nautico of Castellón, with 280.

In senior male K1, the French Nicolás Lambert, from the Kayak Club Terre de Camargue, raised the trophy, followed by Carlos Moreno, Scooter Algemesí, and Jacob Lozano, from the Antella Piragüist Penya. "I love to come to Spain in order to be able to dispute these competitions. The fact that they are short, two-day, allows to implement different strategies," said the French winner.

In K2 the couple formed by Vicente José Tortajada and Raimon Gastaldo, from Club Piragüismo Sueca and the Club Kayak Tudense, respectively, signed a strong victory, followed by Jorge Massa and Izan Aliaga, Lugo Fluvial, and the French Maël Bedris-Pleury and Tanguy Cattelle, from the Kayak Club Terre de Camargue.

The awards Vika Bobrazh and Manuela Poggio took the gold in senior female K2, with Andrea Sánchez and Carmen Martínez, Club Piragüisme Silla, and Paloma Cinto and Sarah Barahona, from the Real Club Nautico de Castellón, occupying the second and third positions, respectively.

In the unique mixed K2 category, the Portuguese couple, made up of Ana Rute and Sergio Ferreira, from Club Crestuma, followed by Juan José Sanchez Serrano and María Carmen Pegrin from Centro Natación Helios, followed by the duo luso María Joao Gomez and Joao Gomez, from Club Crestoma.

In female cadet K1, María Martínez Koshytska of the Scooter Club Algemesí reigned; while in the male it was Martín Conceiçao, of the Portuguese Club Crestuma.

In male cadet K2 were Pau Algaba and Adriel Ferrer, from Club Piragüisme Culera, those who were made with gold, while in young K1 the winner was Vicente Esteve of the Piragüista Antella Penya and the couple formed by Francisco Martínez and Sergio Domínguez were winning in the juvenile K2. In the category Sub- 23 male, Marc Martínez Koshytska left home the final triumph.

In the male category C1 the victory was for Julián Serrano, from the Aranjuez Piragüism Club, while Rakel Pérez, from the Thader Kayak of Cieza, was the winner in female C1.

As for the veterans competing in the individual K1 mode, Joaquín Roig, of Scooter Algemesí, won in category G; Francisco Roche of the Helios Swimming Center, did so in the E; the Italian Roberto Bitossi, of Club Amici del Fiume, was raised with gold in the D; Luis Ventura of the Club Crestoma of Portugal was imposed on veterans C and Pablo Zamora, of the Club of Piragüismo Las Grajas, in B. For its part, Montserrat Herrera del Sicorana in category C. achieved the crown in the category C.

In K2, Manuel Craviotto - father of the Olympic Saul Craviotto - and Luis Chacón, of the Sicoris Club, won in veterans E; while Juan Gómez and Carlos Calero, of the Club Escuela Piragüismo Aranjuez, did so in the category of veterans C.

2023-06-02: Six countries announce that they will compete in the Xúquer Descens

The 61 edition of the Descens del Xúquer will be held on 10 and 11 June with two modalities, competitive and popular

The International Descens of the Xúquer, which recuperates the mythical Davallada of the Xúquer, has already finished the preparations for its 61st edition, which is held on 10 and 11 June. In this 2023, the test takes on an international dimension and will bring together in its competitive mode more than 150 athletes of six nationalities... Portugal, France, Belarus, Italy, Denmark and Spain... who will travel the river in the modalities of K1, K2, C1 and C2 a total of 19 kilometres in two stages.

The international cast will have faces known as that of Víctor Manuel Tageta Félix, president of the Federaçao Portuguesa de Canogem (Portuguese Federation of Piragüismo) who will participate together with other compatriots of the clubs of Angra do Heroismo and 24 palists of Crestoma. Some of the members of the Italian club Amici dei Fiume will also test the Valencian waters, as well as the piragüists of the Ardèche region, which has a known river descent and Montpellier, in France, among others.

The national landscape will be nurtured and diverse, with palists from different points in the country who have not wanted to miss the opportunity to enjoy this test which is certainly a good preparation for the XXX World Championship of Marathon Piragüism, which is held in Vejen - Kolding from August 31 to September 3, 2023.

Cantabria Multisport goes to the Descens del Xúquer with 11 participants, the Thader Kayak of Cieza with 8, while the conquest Las Grajas will do it with 6 palists. Aranjuez, Canoe Valladolid and the Tudela Sports Club move four members each, the Lugo River participates with two and the Salmantino Los Duendes will compete with a representative.

All of them will find a powerful local contingent, with more than 20 participants from the RCN Castellón and others from the Scooter Club of Algemesí, one of the hosts of this river descent along with Antella, who has registered 13 participants, as well as Culera, who will displace a ten.

In the last edition of the Descens del Xúquer, the brothers Marc and María Martínez Koshytska, of the Scooter Club of Algemesí, rose with two triumphs in the male and female K1 categories, respectively, while Carlos Moreno proclaimed himself the male senior K1 champion, revalidating the victory of the 2021 edition, and Izan Aliaga was the youth winner in this same modality.
