The race will be incorporated into the exit of stage 5 and will score as an In Port more

Due to the weather, the In Port race that was to be held on Saturday in Newport has been postponed and will now join the exit of stage 5.

Security is a key priority for The Ocean Race. With a forecast of growing winds, worsening visibility and very strong racachas, it has been decided to postpone the In Port race until Sunday.

Team Holcim-PRB has a minimal advantage over the 11th Hour Racing Team and Team Malizia, while the Biotherm stalks them a little longer.

The Guyot envrionnement - Team Europe will not take part in stage 5 after displanting in stage 4. The ship will be sent by freighter to Europe and the team is exploring several options to rejoin the race.

The race is scheduled to start at 14: 15 local time / 18: 15 UTC. There will be no separate In Port race, but the coastal section of the exit will have a door that will act as a finish line to record the positions before the ships are headed in to Aarhus... lthe positions on that door will be those of the Regata In Port Race of Newport.

2023-05-19: The fight for victory The Ocean Race begins in Newport

A little more than a month's arrival at the Grand Final of Genoa, there is still much equality on top of the classification, with three teams separated by one point before the departure of the fifth stage, which will take place on Sunday

Four Imoca's will compete on Saturday at the Newport In-Port Race before crossing the Atlantic and The Ocean Race will leave America and return to Europe.

Kevin Escoffier's Team Holcim-PRB has a minimal advantage over the 11th Hour Racing Team and Team Malizia. His team recovers after having decarpled in the fourth stage and has used all its energy and resources to be on the Newport exit line, with the lead still in its power despite withdrawing from the previous stage.

Escoffier has changed crew again, incorporating Charles Caudrelier, who is the patron with whom he sailed until the victory in the last edition of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Charlie Enright, the pattern of the 11th Hour Racing Team, has only one disadvantage point and saved a challenging first half of his return to the world with a victory in Newport, his hometown, last week. This victory catapult the team back to the battle for the leader in the classification.

Team Malizia is tied to points with the 11th Hour Racing Team, also just one point from Team Holcim-PRB leaders. Pattern Boris Herrmann returns after staying out in stage 4, while Yann Eliès replaces Nico Lunven.

A small step behind the head trio is Biotherm of Paul Meilhat, who still has the lead in the general.

The next stage of the Atlantic-wide race from Newport to Aarhus (Denmark), scores double, which gives it strategic importance. A victory here will greatly contribute to determining the final results.

Before the departure of the Sunday stage will arrive the In- Port race on Saturday. The classification in the In-Port Series serves as a result of the general classification of the race. With equality, the In- Port Series is of great importance.

The weather forecast is not promising: winds of more than 30 knots and heavy rains. But if the conditions are safe at the time of departure (14: 10 local time / 18: 10 UTC), the race will take place.
