Two Spanish crews have finished within the Top10 of the 470 European Championship that has been held in San Remo, Italy, throughout this week. Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman, fifths, have been the best national team, followed by Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez, novios in the open and octavos European classification.
The 470's Medal Race, a race in which only the top ten of the championship participated, was imprinted with a more tactical than technical test, in which the head crews had to keep their opponents under control in order not to leave the podium.
Xammar and Brugman left from the fourth position with options to get a medal, but for this they had to end up ahead of several crews. Since the beginning of the race, the main candidates for victory have sailed together in the middle of the fleet. On the contrary, teams that by numbers could not climb up to podium posts have taken advantage of the Medal Race to show their best version. This was the case with Mas and Rodríguez, who have completed the test in third position.
With the fifth square of Xammar / Brugman and the ninth of Mas / Rodríguez, Spain ends the European Championship with very good sensations for the world Olympic class that will be held this August in The Hague and in which the first places of the country will be distributed to be in the Paris Games 2024. In particular, in The Hague, up to eight countries, excluding France, of class 470 will be classified. The numbers of Spain are therefore encouraging to achieve the main objective of this season, which is to seal the ticket to the Games.
Together with Xammar / Brugman and Mas / Rodríguez, Neus Ballester and Jaime Wizner, 40th of the general and best team Sub21, and Pablo Ruiz and Mar Gil, who finished the competition at position 54, also participated in this European.

The wind conditions in the Italian race field have allowed the final series of the European Championship to be closed with three new tests to add a total of 11 contested races. The provisional classification shows a tight Top10 in which the two Spanish crews who agreed to the Oro group have fought for climbing positions to the last board.

Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman will be crossing the medal-hungry exit line tomorrow at one point on the podium. The Catalan dupla has added to its lockers a partial of 2-8-3, rising from the fifth to the fourth place of the classification. In the Silver group, the other two crews present in the Championship have successfully closed their participation. On the one hand, the Neus Ballester and the Galician Jaime Wizner go up to 40, septimos in the group and first crew Sub21 in the European. 2023-03-17: Xammar- Brugman remain in the Top5 of the European 470

Xammar- Brugman is in fifth position just five points from the podium... Mas y Nico Rodríguez get, from position 21, the pass to the gold group
Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman have closed the third day of the 470 European Championship within Top5 of the fleet gathered in San Remo, Italy. With three new tests in the locker, the Catalan team continues in the head group. Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez have sealed the pass to the gold group from position 21 of the general.
The 470 European has had today, the third day of competition, the first day without any upsets since its inception, with three tests completed to add a total of five races. With a moderate wind, which has been around 9 knots, the committee has managed to recover some of the program lost yesterday, a day that was left blank, and thus the qualifying phase is closed, dividing the fleet into groups Oro and Plata.
Xammar and Brugman began the day with a third position in the first race to add a sixth in the second race. These results have been undrawn on the last sleeve with a 15 that has become its discard. However, the Catalan team occupies the fifth overall position, only five points from the podium and ten of the leaders, the Germans Simon Diesch and Anna Markfort.
The day has been less productive for Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez, who go from 15th to 21st. In today's three races, Mas and Rodríguez have recorded a 6- (14) -11, results that are worth them to get the day to end in gold group positions.
For their part, Neus Ballester and Jaime Wizner have completed the third day in the 40th position while Pablo Ruiz and Mar Gil have done so in the 60th place. Both crews will compete from tomorrow in the Silver group.

2023-05-16: The lack of wind causes a blank day in the 470 European
White day in the 470 European Championship has been closed without any evidence disputed by the weather instability that has been recorded in San Remo, Italy. Although the committee has come to give a way out for each group, both races have had to be abandoned by lack of wind.
The committee's intention was to start the day at 9: 30 with the first exits but at 8: 30 the deferral flag was raised. A slight improvement of the day was translated after 14: 00 at the exit to the sea of the entire fleet with a warning signal at 15: 00. However, the instability of the wind forced us to abandon the regatta that began. Finally, in view of the persistence of the loose wind the committee decided at 15: 56 to end the day.
Yesterday, Monday, the day also began with postponement but in the middle of the afternoon two races were held after which Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman were in the second position of the general. In place 15 are Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez. Neus Ballester and Jaime Wizner are 39th and Pablo Ruiz and Mar Gil 61st.
Tomorrow, the 470 European Championship will be resumed with the intention of the committee to fight three races, the maximum allowed per day, to recover the unsailed ones today. The forecast is light wind of the NE in the morning but is expected to rise above 10 knots at noon.
