Final in the waters of the river of Vigo, for the Spring Regata that with the Repsol Trophy in play, took the interest of the sailing competitions, in the Galician community, on this bridge of the first of May... as it has been taking place since 1982 with the advance of the then Trophy Gloria (which was always on the festive bridge of the Corpus, to escape from those Championships of the World of Football, of sad memory for Spanish football, for the sports failure they had assumed... and one of the headquarters was Vigo.
The planned tests in the program were disputed, three trapeze-shaped tours (two for the J80 and one for the ORCs) that would be decisive for shaping the podiums of the different classes.
The winners of this forty-fifth edition were the Sailway (CM Canido) in ORC 1-2-3, the Deep Blue 2.1 (RCN Vigo) in ORC 4, the Five Albariño Islands (CN Beluso) in ORC 5, the Salaño 2 (RCN Vigo) in A Two, the Okofen by Javier de la Gandara (MRCYB) in J80 and the Tutatis (MRCYB) in Figaro. The latter also took the special award for the best female crew.
In the class ORC 1-2-3, with a partial of 2-2-2, the Sailway of Ramón Ojea (CM Canido), with Alejandro Pérez in the cane, managed to take the gold of the competition. His regularity in the three days of competition allowed him to advance his rivals and to rise to the top of the podium. The Bon III (CN Punta Lagoa) compensated for its off-line disqualification of Sunday with a first place on Monday.
A new partial victory that, in addition to Saturday, awarded him the silver of the trophy. He ended up with 10 points tied with the Narval of José Antonio Portas (CN Vilagarcía), which was third.
In class ORC 4, the Deep Blue 2.1 of Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo) gave neither truce nor choice to its rivals. He was the best, no doubt. He made full of victories and rose, with 3 points, with a more than deserved first prize. The rest of the first squares were occupied, with 7 and 8 points, the Unus de Luis García Trigo (MRCYB) La Burea Negra de Juan José Martínez (CN Castrelo de Miño), second and third respectively.
In class ORC 5, where the first two tests had left very tight results on the top of the table, the race was also resolved in a very tight way. He ended the final victory of the Five Albariño Islands, of Iñaki Carbada (CN Beluso), tied to 8 points with the second classified, the Nahela of Victor Manuel Alvarez (CD Alagua), and just half point of separation with the third, the Squid II of Francisco Lusquiños (CN Portonovo).
In class A2, the Salaño Two of Jacobo Vecino and Brenda Maure (RCN Vigo), was the only ship along with the Deep Blue that was imposed on each and every race. He ended up with three partial oars and the primal trophy laurels. The silver was for the Aquilon of Roberto Telle and Genoveva Pereiro (MRCYB) and the bronze for the Asante Sana of Juan Carlos Trabazos and Joaquín Dasilva (LM Bouzas).
The J80 class reached the final day led by the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara, tied to points with the Alboroto of Javier Aguado. In the program of the day, like the ORCs, two trapeze-format tests in which none could fail if they wanted to take the laurels. Finally, a first and a second in the sleeves bowed the balance in favor of the Okofen, who, as was expected, was made with victory. Next in Baiona, the A2 Galician with the Rafael Olmedo Cup in play.

2023-04-30: Sailway, April and Magic Oils in a handkerchief in the Repsol that will reach Baiona tomorrow

Sailway, April and Magic play it to the top card
The second day of the Repsol Regata organized by the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona, the judges chose to consider three ORC cruises out of line (Bom III, Magic and Oils April) and one did not comply with the required penalty: the ship of Victor Carrión, the Bon III... and obtained as punishment the disqualification of the trenches.
Also in J80 there were problems in its departure, as the technicians were forced to take out the black flag... that black block banner, which warns the troop, that one of the lines that comes, will be considered disqualification... of bad memory in the National Class, by the way. On this occasion the one who paid for the broken dishes was the Arriscao of Antonio Francisco Gómez... who had to take the course to the locker room.
The April and the Magic Oil were always in the lead, with the Yess Too at his stern without losing sight of them. The rest of the fleet sailed in a handkerchief on the Sail Coast and the internal face of the Cis archipelago and it was not until the arrival in Carallones, it beacon of forced passage, where some began to mark positions and extend distances to the inside of Baiona Bay, where the arrival in front of the National Parador was placed.
In the class ORC 1-2-3, the off-line Bon III, who came to the leader of the previous day, brought him down to the last position. The stage victory was for the April Oil of the Pérez Canal, but the Sailway of Ramón Ojea advanced them in the general classification thanks to the two second positions he achieved in the two trials contested so far. Canido's are first followed by the Oils, the Magic and the Narval, which are tied to points in the second, third and fourth position.
In class ORC 4, the Deep Blue 2.1 by Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo), the only one with two consecutive victories, is one of the most solvent ships of the competition. Two first positions with which, if he managed to keep his streak on Monday, he would take the trophy's triumph. The Unus de Luis García Trigo (MRCYB), with the provisional silver that he had in detail on this occasion with his crew, with a splendid mouthpiece of mussels; and The Black Mockery of Juan José Martínez (CN Castrelo de Miño), with the bronze; the second and third place were exchanged with respect to the previous day.
In class ORC 5, the Chances of the Balea Dous (RCN Rodeira), with Luis Pérez at the front, were the best of the day and having taken the stage victory allowed them to leave until the second position of the general, in which the Nahela of Victor Manuel Alvarez (CD Alagua) remains in the lead. The Squid II of Francisco Lusquiños (CN Portonovo) goes third.
In class A2, the Salaño 2 of Jacobo Vecino and Brenda Maure (RCN Vigo) is the other ship that, along with the Deep Blue, was able to repeat triumph on this second day. It thus consolves its privileged position at the top of the provisional podium with the Aquilon of Roberto Telle and Genoveva Pereiro (MRCYB); and the Asante Sana of Juan Carlos Trabazos and Joaquin Dasilva (LM Bouzas) in the second and third drawer respectively.
In the real-time competition of the J80, the Okofen was the first to cross the arrival line and this stage victory allowed him to jump from the third to the first position. It has the provisional gold with four points, the same as the Alboroto, which are kept in the silver position. In third position, the Marias de Manel Cunha appears.

2023-04-29: The Swan show at the opening of the Repsol in Baiona

Two days are ahead: the Dominican coast back from Commud to Baiona and the trapecia planned for the holiday of Monday in the area of the fondeadero the islands Cíes (Photo Clara Giraldo)
The Spring Regatta, in its forty-fifth edition, with the Repsol Trophy began to define its classifications on Saturday following the celebration of the first of the three days of competition that will be held in the Rías Baixas until next Monday under the organization of the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona.
In this first stage, the tour for the 50 participating ships was the slightly more than 23 miles that separate the bay of Baionese from the interior of the river of Pontevedra, a route that the fastest ships completed in almost four and a half hours, on a cloudy day, with a mist, some punctual blow and a wind not too intense but enough to stop the fleet.
The largest ships, grouped in the class ORC 1-2-3, were the fastest to complete the slightly more than 23 miles of tour between Baiona and Commud. The Magical of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, patrolled by Julio Rodríguez, crossed the line of arrival the first after 4 hours and 22 minutes of navigation. The Swan 42 managed to impose in real time the Yess Too of Rui Ramada (MRCYB) and the April Oils of the Pérez Canal brothers (RCN Vigo), both Swan 45.
All three were held in the head of the fleet throughout the course, with different strategies and different board choices but with very similar results. Behind them, two smaller ships, the Bon III of Víctor Carrión (CN Punta Lagoa) and the Sailway of Ramón Ojea (CM Canido) highlighted for their good doing in the race.
In Class ABC 4, one of the most adjusted, where much of the fleet sailed without achieving large margins over its most direct rivals, one of the crew was made with victory one to the podiums of the competitions in the Rías Baixas, the Deep Blue of Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo). He achieved the victory of the first stage by imposing on The Black Mockery of Juan José Martínez (CN Castrelo de Miño) and the Unus of Luis García Trigo (MRCYB), which, pending what happens the next two days, have provisional silver and bronze.
The ABC 5 class dispute was resolved with the triumph of the Nahela, the guard ship patrolled by Víctor Manuel Álvarez (CD Alagua). Two crews from the area of the Morrazo, the Five Albariño Islands of Iñaki Carbada (CN Beluso) and the Balea Dous de Luis Pérez (RCN Rodeira) will fight to take the first position from the second and third positions they achieved on Saturday.
In class A2, the couple formed by Jacobo Vecino and Brenda Maure, recent winners of the CdeC Trophy in the same category, again showed their four-hand navigation skills, imposing themselves on this first day with Salaño dos, from the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo. Along with them, only another boat finished the test, the Aquilón of Roberto Telle and Genoveva Pereiro, from Mount Real Club de Yates.
In the J80 class, one of the news of the day was the return to the competition, after a few months in stand by, of Javier de la Gandara's Okofen. With his usual crew, the Viguese pattern proved not to have lost the edge, making it very complicated to the Alboroto de Javier Aguado, which was a favorite.
Both kept an intense hand-to-hand, very glued throughout the course and in the head of the fleet. But in the last stretch, already to the interior of the river of Pontevedra, the Solventis Ribadeo, of Manuel Jiménez, gave the sorpasso of the day. He took a great pace and advanced them all, taking them more and more away. He finished first and took the stage victory ahead of the Alboroto and Okofen, which were left second and third respectively.
