The City of Granada of Trasmed, the Spanish shipping company of the Grimaldi Group, has carried out a number of improvements and maintenance tasks to reduce the emissions of SOx gases in the atmosphere.
After four months in the Turkish shipyard of Besiktas, where it has been subjected to a comprehensive renovation, the City of Granada reappears the new corporate image of Trasmed Grimaldi and with a comprehensive renewal to comply with the Marpol regulations, which regulates air pollution produced by ships... for this purpose, a gas cleaning equipment, snorbber, has been implemented and a ballast water treatment plant has been installed.
Its exterior appearance has been modified and a silicone paint has been applied to the living work of the ship to improve its resistance to water. In addition to the characteristic blue color, the reform of the chimney to house the four escapes of the scrubbers, a technology used to reduce the emissions of polluting gases to the atmosphere, in particular the sulphur oxides (SOx), generated by the combustion of fuels and on the decks, maintenance and renovation have been carried out in particular in the pool area.
As for the maintenance of the machinery, work has been done on the main and auxiliary engines, as well as on the propellant propellant and axle lines, including the polishing of the propellant shovels, to ensure maximum reliability and service to our passengers.
Of 26,916 gross tons, the City of Granada is 172 metres long, 26.20 m long and 6.20 m long. It is powered by four Wärtsila engines that add a power of 28,960 kW and allows it to maintain a speed of 23.5 knots.
