Maurice Gibert's Akelarre is imposed on Getxo's Inverse Regatta

So this special competition in the world of sailing, which for 38 years has been one of the most tiring tests in the Cantabrian, came back.
The Abelarre de Mauricio Gibert signed up for the traditional Inversa-BBVA Regata, which returned like every first of May to a peach water of the Abra that days before they hosted the Spanish Cup of ILCA 6... the Thelonious finished second and the Tchin Tchin third.
In a beautiful day for navigation, the Abelarre de Mauricio Guibert, a First 40.7, exceeded in a minute and ten seconds the Thelonian of Jon Garai, with the Tchin Tchin of José Luis Ribed and Juan Ignacio Gomeza third on the podium three minutes and twenty seconds from the winner. Then came the Symphony, Alpega, Go Blue, Lasai, Boreal, Kiwi and Despeinado, which completed the top ten of a Inversa-BBVA Regata that always awakens much expectation.
A beautiful sailing party with an attractive image in the Abra with 40 ships that took part in one of the most outstanding days of the wide calendar of the club of Las Arenas... were two hundred regatists, distributed on ships of the race classes, cruise and monotypes J80, who sailed for an always very open victory in each edition, which this year was for the Akelarre.
2023-04-28: The Dean of the Contra arrives... the BBVA Inverse Regatta of the Abra Maritime

There are about 300 crew members, distributed in the boats of the Regata, Cruise and J80 classes, who sail for an always very open victory in each edition. The favouritism that occurs in other races of the calendar passes here to a background according to weather and wind conditions. On a usually planned tour of about 10 to 15 miles, according to the decree of the Regatta Committee of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, one can see once again the exciting persecution of the larger cruises to the smaller ones.
The traditional Inverse-BBVA Regatta returns to the peach waters of the Abra as every first of May. This very special competition in the sailing world is one of the most tiring tests in the Cantabric and is always one of the days pointed out in red by the regatists to navigate, enjoy and seek the triumph in this classic event organized by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, which celebrates its 125th anniversary.
About 60 ships will be on the starting line next Monday, May 1, from 1.45 p.m., in one of the most attractive and fun tests for the emotion that is discovered each year. This holiday has been linked for almost four decades in the Vizquino sport with a Inversa-BBVA Regata that reaches its 38th edition. It also has a very peculiar development since the compensated times, unlike the rest of the races, are made before taking the exit. From the first of the dozens of crews to the last, after 2.30 hours, a formidable sailing party is created with a spectacular image in the Abra with about 60 ships participating in one of the most relevant days on the calendar.
The first one who crosses the finish line, without waiting for the usual control of times according to the measure of each ship, is proclaimed the winner in a race that can be seen each year from both the right margin (Getxo) and the left margin (Santurtzi and Portugalete). A year ago he won the Javier-varri Rat Pack, which came out the penultimate and overtook all the ships that had left before him. Second was the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi, last to take the exit, who only had to overcome the winner Rat Pack. Third, the Modark was classified and then the Tchin Tchin - winner in 2019-, Marmotinha, Fingolfin, Obelix, Thelonius, Kribi, Symphony, Bacilon, Calipso Two, Ramper, Hib-Brut, Tico, Martha AC, Kohen, Zur, Emilu, Mikotxos, Haize Lore, Galapagos, Aizian or the classic Asti V.
The BBVA Inverse Regatta that has been organizing for about four decades the Real Club Marítimo del Abra - Real Sporting Club, is the dean among the races against the Spanish watch... that is, of the competitions in which the difference in the rating is given in the entry and from the last of the exits measured to the reverse of each rating... the competition is real time. Until a few years ago the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, organized a similar with a route between the beach of Barra and the southern island of Cíes... which was sponsored by Corum and which had for the winner a table watch of this very pretigious Swiss watch brand valued at about 20,000 euros.
