Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman sign a second place on the Medal Race to comfortably rise with gold in 470... in 49er, with a hard fight for podium posts, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel were clear worthy of gold

French Olympic Week comes down the curtain with a bright finish for Spain that returns home with two gold medals: Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman in 470 and Diego Botín and Florian Trittel in 49er.

After five days of race, in which the wind conditions have been variable and all the fleets have had a blank day except for ILCA 6 and 7, the Spanish team reached the Medal Races with two crews at the head of their respective classifications in 470 and 49er.

Xammar and Brugman, in 470, had kept the board leaders on each day, but yesterday they lost the succulent advantage harvested and faced the Medal tied to points with the Austrians Vadlau and Mähr.

Under wind conditions of about 8 knots and being the first to compete today in Hyéres, the Spaniards were able to position themselves in the head group from the exit, holding firmly until they crossed the arrival line in second place, behind the Germans Winkel and Winkel, bronze medal.

The Austrians did not show the same fineness and were sexted in the final test, so Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman not only rose with gold but did so with a comfortable advantage over the second podium drawer, occupied by Vadlau and Mähr.

The second crew of the Spanish Olympic team in 470, Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez, who arrived in Hyères after a Galician crew injury, fired from the French coast at 17.

The wind was already over 10 knots when the 49er shift came in the round of Medal Races. Diego Botín and Florian Trittel were cautious and did not risk an apex on their way to the gold.

In the select fleet of the top 10 crews of the championship, the Spaniards left with a 16-point advantage over the Poles Staniul and Sztorch, while from the second to the sixth place, the spooks five points of difference augured a hard battle from which it was best to stay on the sidelines.

Botín and Trittel closed their partials with a seventh in the Medal Race that served them the gold medal with total tranquility. They had left behind an arduous fight after which the Austrians Colley and Connor won their enemies' hand to rise with the silver leaving the Poles Staniul and Sztorch on the third step of the podium.

In Formula Kite Feminino, Gisela Pulido was the first, only four points to enter the final races, after an unfortunate penultimate day, with two falls in sleeves, after which he signed a third partial position as a farewell from the waters of Hyères, where the victory was for the French Lauriane Nolot.

In the male category, Alex Citation, the only national representative in the gold group, closed his participation in position 26. The winner was French Axel Mazella.

Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio finished their participation in Nacra 17 at the 18 General's, led by the British John Gimson and Anna Burnet.

In ILCA 6, with the victory of the Canadian Sarah Douglas, the Spanish representatives ended with Martina Reino 26th, followed by Ana Moncada, 27\, and Cristina Pujol, 31st. In ILCA 7, the best Spanish was Joaquín Blanco, 28th, followed by Joel Rodríguez, 32nd, taking the first position, the British Elliot Hanson.

In 49er FX, Patricia Suárez and María Cantero closed their participation in French Olympic Week at 36 and Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio at 39. The gold was hung by the Dutch Odile van Aanholt and Annette Duetz.

2023-04-28: The Red is a candidate for two oars at the Hyères Week

The Botín-Trittel tandem defend the first position of the 49er with a wide difference of points over its persecutors... Xammar -Brugman, first tied to points with the second, keep the medal options at 470... Gisela Polido, 1st, stays at the door of the Formula Kite Medal Series

The last day of final series in French Olympic Week has shown the expertise of several Spanish crews, with two posts in the late morning and serious medal options. Diego Botín and Florian Trittel will defend the first position in the 49th Medal Race, while Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman will do the same in 470.

With a light wind, which has ranged between 7 and 10 knots, the international fleet congregated in Hyères has been able to complete the program scheduled for today, leaving closed the groups that will participate in the races by the medals.

Diego Botín and Florian Trittel will defend tomorrow the first position in the 49th Medal Race. In five days of competition, with a total of 13 regatas completed, the Spaniards have proved to be the strongest rival in their class and have settled at the top of the table with a very high income for the final race.

Although today their results have not been the best of the week, 13- (RET) -3-10, Botín and Trittel close the final phase with 64 points, while Poles Staniul and Sztorch, seconds, add up to 80. In the race for the medals, in which only the top 10 are involved and the score is double and not disposable, the Spaniards have enough advantage to finish the week at the top of the podium.

It should be noted that, in today's second test, once they have arrived on the ground, Botín and Trittel have decided to sign a retainer because they have committed a barlovent- sotavento infringement in a passage by buoy. Still, the medal options remain intact.

In 470, Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman will defend the first position at the Medal Race tomorrow. The Spanish team has lost the large income that it held yesterday and ends the day by tying with the second classified, the Austrians Vadlau / Mähr. In addition, Xammar and Brugman keep the classified third parties, the Portuguese team Costa / Joao, away from them at 12 points.

Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez, who arrived in Hyères after an injury by the Galician crew, fired from the French coast at the 17 of the 470.

In Formula Kite Feminino, Gisela Pulido has suffered a fall in the fourth race and another in the fifth test of the day, which has served him DNC, results that have taken him away from the semifinal posts. In the last sleeve of the day, Pulido has signed a third with which he ends his participation in Hyères in the thirteenth position, just four points from the final races.

In the male category, Alex Citation, the only national representative in the gold group, closes his participation in position 26.

In Nacra 17, Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio have completed their participation in the Hyères race at the 18 of the general. In today's first trial they have been penalized with an offline and in the following they have recorded a 19-22-14, their less outstanding results of the week.

In ILCA 6, it also ends the competition for the Spanish representatives with Martina Reino in position 26, followed by Ana Moncada, 27, and Cristina Pujol, 31. In ILCA 7 the best Spanish has been Joaquín Blanco, which ends 28th, while Joel Rodríguez is 32nd of the final general.

In 49er FX, without representation in the gold group, Patricia Suárez and María Cantero end up at 36 and Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio in 39.

The French Olympic Week has distributed all kinds of conditions in its first three days of competition.
