Under the organization of the Real Club Astur de Regatas, the Light Sailing Asturias Championship for the classes RS Feva, ILCA 4 and Optimist has been held in Gijón waters during the weekend.

The four scheduled sleeves were held, two per day, with very different weather conditions. On Saturday the wind blew from the moderate Northeast, with the sea flat and sunny day. While on Sunday, the unstable wind rolled first to the West to finish the Northwest and intermittent rain.

Aida Marqués and Carlos Fernández who came to win the José Luis Azqueta Trophy in Getxo, was the fastest couple among the Feva. They crossed the line of arrival three times in the first place and proclaimed themselves the champions of Asturias. The second square was obtained by Rodrigo Llanes and Diego Pérez in three races and winners in the third manga. Miguel Ribera and Hugo Sánchez got the bronze, with a third and two seconds in their locker.

In class ILCA 4, the largest in terms of participation, the winner did not decide until the last test, where the young Pablo Suárez was the fastest and after having won the first sleeve and being second in the second one he rose to the top of the drawer. The second position was for Alvaro Alonso, tied to points with the first, won two races and was second in the third. Covadonga Fernández, with a second, a third and a fourth place, closed the podium posts in this category.

Among the Optimist, Marta Simal demonstrated its great shape status as the best in three of the four contested sleeves, in the first race ended second after making an off-line and having to repeat the exit. The second position was for Alejandro Fernández who won the first manga. The third place in the classification was obtained by Alma Pérez second in the two races on Sunday.

The next weekend will be held in the waters of Gijón Bay, the Asturias Light Sailing Championship for the classes: Optimist, ILCA 4 and Feva... while the organization of the championship is in charge of the Royal Astur Club of Regatas, with the authorization of the Federation of Sailing of the Principality of Asturias.

Four tests are planned, the first manga's attention signal will be given on Saturday at 12.30 p.m., same schedule as Sunday. There will be no more than three tests per day. On the other hand, at least one sleeve must be finished for the Championship to be valid... the race field will be located in the vicinity of the beach of San Lorenzo, with tours of approximately 45 minutes duration.
