Failing Base Cadiz promoted by SailGP Inspire is already a reality and reaches the Gaditan coast of the hand of SailGP and the Municipal Institute of Sport of the City of Cadiz. In this centre, the best young people in the country will be trained in a number of fields related to failing, so that they can develop in the best way with some of the world's largest experts.

This project aims to introduce foying as an activity at various levels, to develop athletes and coaches, to generate encouragement for this discipline by encouraging the participation of local people and to serve as a link between the most promising young people being formed and the Spanish SailGP team. The presentation event was held in the framework of the ILCA 4 European Championship that is being held this week.

In this centre all types of sportsmen can be trained, from those who want to start in the field of failing from the age of eight and up to the age of 55, regardless of whether they have previous experience or not, to those who progress and want to engage in it professionally. There will be programs adapted to everyone who wants to participate and learn from the best in a Failing Base that will have state-of-the-art material, the most advanced technology and first-level coaches.

There will be three different training programmes with different characteristics:

  • Local quarry: for young beginners residing in Cadiz.
  • Local debutant: proposed for over 21 years of age with little or no experience in navigation residing in Cadiz.
  • Young national talent: designed for the most promising young people aged 15 to 20 who have advanced skills in this discipline.

The two Great Awards held in Cadiz in 2021 and 2022 placed the city of Gaditana as a world-wide foundation reference. With the opening of the Failing Base Cadiz driven by SailGP Inspire this position will be significantly strengthened. Cadiz has shown that he is passionate for SailGP, making it the most massive SailGP event to date and looking forward to the arrival of the F50 in 2023 and season 5. In fact, on February 22, SailGP was recognized with the award of the Flag of Andalusia to the projection of the province by the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Cadiz as an event of absolute relevance, as it contributes to the projection of the image of Andalusia and Cadiz in the rest of the world.
