The Venhas- Maritime Alliance, since 2020
In his intervention at the presentation of the III Trophy Vithas, held at the facilities of the Maritimo de Canido, the president of the Club, Mauro Olmedo, was very pleased by the support of a health reference, such as Vithas, which is now so linked to the city of Vigo.
For his part, Dr. Ciro Cabezas, managing director of Vithas Vigo and Vithas Clínica Cadarso, highlighted the balance of values between the two institutions, as Vithas and Maritimo agree to defend sports practice and the promotion of health; as well as the defence of equality - in sailing, children compete on equal terms - of companionship and respect for others; and the protection of the environment.
In this sense, the Dr. Cabezas referred to the fact that Vithas is the first carbon-neutral hospital group in electricity and natural gas consumption, as proof of "our commitment to the environment and sustainability; values we share with the candle, a healthy, equal, and nature-friendly sports practice."
Apart from the sponsorship of the School of Vela Vithas Vigo Club Marítimo de Canido, in force since 2020, the collaboration of these two institutions means that the partners of the Marítimo have a premium treatment in their visits to the Hospital Vithas Vigo, whether they come through their insurance company or if they do so as a private patient, in which case they also have important advantages in their treatments.
These benefits are now extended to Vithas Clínica Cadarso following its recent incorporation into the Vithas group. It is a reference ophthalmological centre for southern Galicia and the northern region of Portugal, with the widest portfolio of services in both the diagnosis and treatment of any eye pathology.
School of Vela Vithas Vigo
The collaboration of Vithas with the Marítimo de Canido Club also allows to maintain throughout the year the School of Sailing of the Club in which children between 8 and 17 years of age acquire their first knowledge of this sport.
This school, founded in 1999, aims to enhance the practice of sailing as a social objective of the club in both its playful and enjoyment and its sports and competitive. This is done by using Optimist Raquero and Cylone vessels, the most suitable for a first contact with the candle.
The pillars on which the School of Vela Vithas Vigo - Club Marítimo de Canido works are respect for other athletes, the marine environment, basic standards of safety at sea, companionship and sportsmanship.
The Vela Vithas Vigo School - Canido Maritime Club has a basic year-round course, and one only for the summer; a beginner level course in optimist races and a laser category course in regatta level.
