Manuel Capeans, Lecturer on Friday at the Sailway Foundation
Guest of real luxury for this Friday at seven o'clock in the facilities of Sailway de Vigo: one of the most prestigious and highly valued technicians of the Society Salvamento Marítimo de España, Manuel Capeans, will give a talk about the matter of nautical rescue, plagued with data on the latest advances in the matter... as well as of the most topical, as are the recent attacks of orcas to the sports ships.
The Sailway Foundation promotes, among nautical fans in general, informative colloquia on such relevant issues as safety, healthy life and environmental conservation at sea, which are the pillars of Sailway within the world of nautical recreational companies.
On this occasion and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Institution of Maritime Rescue in Spain, with more than 680,000 people wanted, rescued or assisted, Sailway invites Manuel Capeans, Head of the Centre for the Coordination of Maritime Traffic and Rescue Fisterra to give a talk at the headquarters of Sailway to deal with one of the most worrying issues today; safety at sea and its importance in recreational activities such as: attacks of the orcas, the costs of rescue services, means of warning, stranded, insurance policies, usual causes of assistance.
MANUEL CAPENS (Santiago de Compostela, 1973).
He began sailing with 10 years in the sailing courses of the Nautical Club of Portosin, animated by his father and his grandfather; since then, flying ships has been his favorite hobby and his professional dedication is also in some way linked to it, which is what he will talk about in the talk.
He has been a 12-year maritime traffic controller; 2 of them in the Salvamento plane; 2 in the Balearic and 8 in the Finisterre control centre. Among its responsibilities was to implement all procedures to give the best response to maritime emergencies (radar control / ais, communications, derivation calculation, mobilization of appropriate means for each emergency situation...). For 5 years he has been head of the Centre for the Coordination of Maritime Traffic and Rescue Fisterra, a service that has been guarding the seas for 30 years.
