Trasmed terrorist attack simulated by 70 people

The City of Barcelona, tied in the Port of Mahón, was the ship chosen by the shipping company to carry out the successful drill that tested the effectiveness of the company's Crisis Cabinet
This weekend, the Shipbuilding Trasmed, belonging to the Grimaldi Group, carried out a mock terrorist attack, including a bomb explosion and the transfer of wounded, involving more than 70 troops among crew, security forces and State emergencies.
The drill has consisted of the explosion of a car bomb, located in one of the ship's wineries, with the transfer of wounded and the extinction of fire caused by the alleged explosion, as well as the placing of the pollution barrier at sea and the evacuation of the ship.
An exercise in which more than 70 members have participated among the crew of Trasmed, Guardia Civil, Tédax, Fire, technicians of the Harbour Authority of the Balearic Islands, the Maritime Captains and the Corporation of Practice of the port.
Thus, the City of Barcelona, tied in the Port of Mahon, has been the chosen scenario to test the coordination between all the parties involved and, above all, the effectiveness of the activation of the Shipping Crisis Cabinet according to the Security Management System.
To this end, Trasmed performs regular exercises following international standards SOLAS and MARPOL. Thus, simulations such as the one that took place this weekend take place once a year, but those of fire and rescue control, for example, are carried out weekly with special emphasis on strict compliance with each of the practices making the exercises as real as possible.
