One more year the port facilities will serve as an outdoor classroom to promote values of sustainability and environmental education in a clear commitment to the proximity environment

The Municipal Delegation of the Environment of the City of San Roque in collaboration with Puerto Sotogrande, have initiated a series of environmental awareness activities aimed at students of the schools and institutes of San Roque, with the aim of promoting the care and preservation of the environment and sustainability.

In addition to monitors trained for these formations with a specialty in the Blue Economy, representatives of the Council's own environmental and education councillors are included, as well as experts in the subject matter who come to strengthen the theoretical content at the practical level with the participating student.

The activities begin with a guided tour of the Guadiaro River estuary and the Torreguadiaro Lagoon, where students enjoy bird observation and learn about the environmental impact of human activity in the area and the measures needed to reduce it.

Subsequently, the activity continues with a video projection on marine pollution and its impact on fauna and flora, followed by a boat ride through Puerto Sotogrande to know the port facilities that are characterized by prioritizing at all times the sustainability and respect for the marine environment.

On this first day the students of the CEIP Gloria Fuertes have been the protagonists who have had the opportunity to participate in all these educational activities carried out in the Sotogrande Sports Port. During the next two months, students from the fifth and sixth primary schools and the ESO from the whole of the municipality where Puerto Sotogrande is located, will participate in this initiative.

Puerto Sotogrande, committed to sustainability and social responsibility, seeks to transmit with this training and awareness project to students the values of conservation and environmental protection that are part of their strategic vision with this type of activities.

Puerto Sotogrande has also contributed financially with the bus company Serescol to offer reduced prices to the schools participating in the visits and thus facilitate them, thus providing financing for the transport of the school children and the boat rides themselves.
