She is the first woman to chair this non-profit entity following the previous terms of office of her father Juan Alvarzonález González and his brother Romualdo Alvarzonález Figaredo

The Patronato of the Alvarzonález Foundation has agreed to appoint Cecilia Alvarzonález Figaredo (Gijón, 1969) as new president of the Alvarzonález Foundation, an entity founded by his father, Juan Alvarzonzález González (1919- 2013), in 1992. Cecilia is the third person to hold the presidency of this non-profit cultural entity following the steps of her father, Juan, who was president of the Alvarzonález Foundation between 24 September 1992 and 25 April 2012, when he gave the presidency to his son Romualdo Alvarzonález Figaredo who exercised it until his death on 31 December 2022.

Cecilia Alvarzonález, a degree in Geography and History (Speciality in American Anthropology and Ethnology) from the Complutense University of Madrid and Master in Third Sector Entities from the University of Oviedo, has developed all her professional career at the Alvarzonález Foundation. In fact, since the Foundation began its work in 1992, Cecilia has been working as a deputy director, a position that it currently maintains and which is compatible with the presidency.

The Patronato of the Alvarzonález Foundation, following the vacancy in the presidency for the sad and unexpected death of Romualdo Alvarzonález, has estimated that Cecilia is the person who is the right person to hold this position of responsibility for her professional profile, her deep knowledge of the Foundation and to follow the path marked by her father and brother that has borne so much good fruit throughout these 30 years.
