J80 World Cup in Baiona, the club par excellence of the Ton Cup in Spain

Along with the President of Baionés, José Alvarez... the vice president of the Xunta de Galicia, Diego Calvo; the deputy of Sports of the Diputación de Pontevedra, Gorka Gómez; the mayor of Baiona, Carlos Gómez; the xeral secretary for or Sport of the Xunta de Galicia, José Ramón Lete Lasa; the comandoro de Monte Real, Ignacio Sánchez Otaegui; the vocal of the class J80 in Spain, Guillermo Blanco; and the current champion of Spain of J80, Juan Carlos Ameneiro
The World Cup of J80 of 2023 was officially presented, to be held from 18 to 24 September in Baiona under the organization of the Mount Real Club of Yates... the figures 80 monotypes J80 of five continents and a wide national representation.
Four J80 World Champions have already confirmed that they will be competing in Baiona with the aim of trying to revalidate title. Among them, the canary Rayco Tabares, which has five world curricula (Santander, 2009; Kiel, 2015; Sotogrande, 2016; Hamble, 2017; Les Sables d'Olonne, 2018).
Another pattern to take into account, with two worlds in its pocket (La Trinité, 2007; Newport, 2010), is the santanderino José María Torcida... Pichu has the cantabre as a war name.
His partner at the Real Club Marítimo de Santander, Ignacio Camino, also with a double in world dating (Kiel, 2008; Copenhagen, 2011)
The fourth world champion who has expressed his desire to take the world title that will be put into play in Baiona is also the cantabre Pablo Santurde, which in 2019 was made with the world championship in Getxo in 2019.
And so, before even opening the registration deadline (it opens today), the J80 World Championship Baiona 2023 already has, among its candidates for the title, some of the most prominent names of a booming class worldwide.
From 18 to 24 September Baiona will be the meeting place for about 500 athletes and technicians who will arrive, many of them accompanied by their families, to the Galician marinera villa, making it a kettle of languages and cultures united by love of the sailing sport... a week of events organized under the umbrella of Mount Real Club de Yates that will include five days of competition at the highest level. The precise races will be held from 20 to 24 September and the previous days will be reserved for the registration of the crews, the assembly of the ships, the control of the equipment and other issues related to the regulations of the competition.
The Royal Mount object of desire of the monotypes in the 1980s and 1990s... when they broke into Spain... the First Class 7 and 8 (in 1983 the first European Championship was held, as a starring of the Baiona Week with the 8), and later tried the One Design 35 and especially the Platu 25 already in the beginning of this century.
Proof of of this is that the World Cup of little Beneteau 25 was held in Vigo with about 100 ships! in the waters of the Ria de Vigo, within Caixanova Week in 2005... because Baiona's people passed the theme and gave it to the Week, which is now called the Abanca Week.
With the fall of the IOR and later the disconcertation that came from the hand of the IMS, Baiona, which was the most antimonotype in the world, was in the J80 along with the Nautico de La Coruña... as far as Galicia is concerned.
For his part Vigo with the highest quality Galician rods (except Javier Gandara) went to the most competitive and regatta J70, the result of which a splendid European J70 arrived a few years ago by the hand of the Nautico de Vigo.
Now the Royal Mount has turned in body and soul in the circus of the J80, which has its strength undoubtedly... but which is not what it became internationally. In any case luck and good winds to Baiona 2023, that this is sailing and quality.
