The wind did not join the Canary Party of the Olympic candle

The lack of wind shows the last event of the Gran Canaria Sail in Winter circuit. Despite the efforts of the organizing club, only four classes played the Carnival Regatta Trophy City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with 9 countries in this edition.

The ILCA6 class competition was held a few days earlier to avoid coinciding with several national citations that are taking place these days. With four contested races, the podium was completely foreign, declaring itself the winner of the Croatian Elena Vorobeva, accompanied by the Italian Carolina Albano in second place and the Japanese Yumiko Tombe closing the honorary posts. The first Spanish to be classified was the regatist Jorge Sosa, holding 9 of the general and second in the male category.

The adapted candle was represented with the Hansa 303 and the monotype 2.4 mR, the winners being the local Daniel Llaca (RCNGC) and the Catalan Jordi Cargol (CV Palamós) respectively dominating both their respective fleets along the 4 races held.

The upcoming Olympic IQFoil class at the Paris Games 2024, had 15 registered. The weak wind only allowed the dispute of 3 sleeves, receiving Alvaro Jiménez and Bruno Barbara trophy, first and second in the male category, while Paz Martín and Inés Alvarez did so in the female category.

This international competition has been carried out thanks to the sponsorship of the Island Institute of Sports of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the Government of the Canary Islands and the collaboration of the National, Canary and Island Sailing Federations, along with the Armas- TransMediterranean shipping.
