Butxaca met the favorite forecast, as it was imposed in class 4
Last Saturday was the first nautical event of the class cruises for the bulk fleet. With an inscription of eight cruises representing the Club Marítimo Varadero and the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, organizer of the event, a coastal race of 9.7 miles with a wind between 9 and 13 knots was developed.
In the category ORC 4 the triumph was for the Butxaca of Joaquín Blanco Torrent of the Gran Canaria Nautico, whose crew was able to optimise the advantage from the first buoy of a two-mile girded, achieving at the end of the test almost seven minutes in compensation in front of the second classified, the Andante del Juan Francisco Romay.
The Jilorio de Laureano Romero was unable to defend his rating and despite sailing ahead of the Andante during the entire test, he was only a minute short of being set in compensation.
In the category ORC 5, good work of the 12th Moon of Francisco Ricart of Varadero, comfortably defeating the Kíkere of Diego Brito of the Gran Canaria, demonstrating these two cruises, superiority over the rest of the fleet.
The next meeting of the canarian class of cruises is scheduled for the next 4 March, with the always hard journey to the Roque de Gando, where the usual strong winds of the east of the island, are a real test of strength and resistance for the participants. The Opening of Cruises Trophy has been sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Presidency grant.
