Great effort from the SailGP teams in Sydney that have been working all day to assess the damage to the fleet and the technical base at the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix - 124; Sydney.
After the races on Saturday a major weather event caused significant damage to the wing hangars and multiple ships of SailGP and the organization was forced to cancel the second day of the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix - 124; Sydney.
The ship of the Spanish team, the F50 Victoria has not been damaged and is back at the base of the Spanish SailGP Team on the way to disassembly.
Yesterday the F50 flew over Sydney Bay to reach 50 knots. in the three sleeves full of emotion and adrenaline. The rooster, in their race debut with the new team configuration, signed a precious fifth position in the second race where they made a great exit.
The waters of Sydney again witnessed the Spanish debut, if in 2020 they saw the first flight to the F50 Victoria, this time they received Diego Botin in his premiere as a pilot. The Spaniards came with a great responsibility after the changes in their configuration took advantage of every second of their career to integrate them. After a first eighth position, the Spaniards were fifth in a race full of emotion. In the last race of the day however they ended at the end of the table.

Disaster in Australian waters
A strong time in Sydney has caused chaos after the first day of the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix, a bandage has caused significant damage to the rigid wings and, where the worst stop has been that of the Canadian team that has left, as if it were a feather, taking everything I found ahead.
There have been no personal damage, but there have been material and very large... some of the equipment and organization bases have been destroyed, so this Sunday's tests have been cancelled.
The next SailGP events in New Zealand and the United States are also in the air.
2023-02-17: All set in Sydney to start the Australian KPMG GP

Diego Botin debuts in Sydney as a driver of the Spanish SailGP team this weekend
The F50 are ready to fly at one of the most expected events on the SailGP calendar: the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix - 124; Sydney. The Spanish team is preparing to compete in one of the most cheerful venues in the competition, with Diego Botin premiere to the leaders.
It will be the first time we see Diego Botin, a new team pilot, in front of the F50 Victoria, but we will still have to wait for Joel Rodriguez to run with his new flight controller role as the wind conditions that are expected in the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix - 124; Sydney requires more experience in the position. This time it will be James Wierzbowski who will be in charge of maintaining the flight of the Spanish ship, an athlete with a multidisciplinary profile that comes to strengthen the team and has a long experience as both flight controller and grinder
Although the Spaniards have little room to turn this season around, Sydney is one of their favorite quotes. It was not only in Australian waters that the F50 Victoria began its journey, but in the last season the Spaniards fought the final by achieving a well-deserved third place. This time the Australian alignment will be composed: Diego Botin, Florian Trittel, Joel Rodriguez, Joan Cardona, Jake Lilley, Nicole Van der Velden and James Wierzbowski.
