The crews of the vine fleet were finally able to enjoy in the waters of the Abra a great day for navigation in this new year 2023. The last day of the 2nd Digital Nautical Trophy was ideal for navigation, with final victory for the Carlos Maidagan Despeinado in the Regata class, the Kribi of Juanma Pereiro in the Cruise class I, the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía in Cruise II and the Biobizz of José Azqueta among the monotypes of the J80 class.
After several previous days with difficult wind conditions and even some suspensions, the II Digital Nautical Trophy, organized by a Royal Abra-Real Sporting Club that is 125 years old, was able to complete tests with a wind that finally helped.
The fourth and final day set out a beautiful exit for the ships of the Regata and Cruise class in the buoy of Restinga at 12.15 p.m., with a south-east wind of 11 knots. Javier Onaindia's Symphony was the first to take the bow. As the race developed the wind rolled to the northwest, from 12 to 14 knots.
An hour and 47 minutes passed when the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi, a Farr 45, entered the first in real time between the committee ship and the buoy of San Ignacio, after having gone to the buoy of Recalada and completed 15 miles. But in the end, it was Carlos Maidagan's Despeinado that concluded as a leader in this Regata class thanks to his partial victory after a great race.
He ended up tied to five points with the Symphony of veteran patron Javier Onaindia, second, and third was the Maitena. The Thelonius of Jon Garai, the Alpega of Alfonso Churruca, the Rat Pack of Javier-varri and the Akelarre of Mauricio Guibert were then classified.

Among the ships of the class Cruise II, was made with the first place the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía, the First 35S5 that also raised the trophy in El Saltillo as a year ago, after winning in the last day and without any discussion. Second was the Paquita VI of José Luis La Calle, followed by the Emilu of Lucio Fernández, the Haize Lore of Javier Gómez de Segura and the Ramper of Jairo López de Guevara.
Among the monotypes of the J80 class division, which began to compete one hour earlier on this final day, the Biobizz of José Azqueta, with 7 points, was established in the leadership, for the 10 that joined the Fhimasa School of Sailing José Luis de Ugarte of Tomás Trueba - winner on a tour - and the 11 of the Jet Set of Ibon Basañez, winner of the last trial.
The remaining sleeve was for the Mandovi dalecandELA of Ramón Zubiaga, fourth in the absolute general. The first test of the last day took place in the area near the beach of Ereaga with a south wind. "Then the second was made to the area of La Galea. In the middle of the third and last, the wind rolled north. It's been a very nice day at a good temperature. These are tests that serve to train for the coming championships.
They have been a very equal race and we have achieved good results, "said Nicolás Viar, a crew member of the Fhimasa School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte, a ship that made a first, a third and a second, always among the first.
