The Hungarian crew formed by Soma Kis-Szölgyémi and András Sámuel Juhasz took the MedSailing 2023, the first test of the season of the 29-class circuit EuroCup, organized by The Nüutic Club El Balís. The second square was for the British Jamie Wilkinson and Jamie Gatehouse and the French podium Hugo Revil and Karl Devaux were completed.
After two days without wind, a breeze finally entered in the last two days that allowed for the Saturday day to be held three tests and two more on Sunday, so the fleet could rule out its worst result.
After the initial leadership of Revil and Devaux, bronze in the 29er World Cup in these same waters just six months ago, the last day although they did a third and a sixth, was not conducive to them, as they fell to the third position. The right ones were the Hungarians Kis-Szölgyémi and Sámuel Juhász, who won the two trials of the day and rose with the final victory in Catalan waters. The British Wilkinson and Gatehouse, with a third and a second, were raised with the MedSailing 2023 subchampionship.
Among the Spanish fleet, the best crew was that of the Catalans Santiago Núñez and Ricardo de March (CN Garraf) and the Baleares Neus García and Lucía Busquets (RCN Palma), were the second female crew, behind the British Annabelle Vines and Madeleine Bilbrough, who were the first female.
In the final day the wind has blown with very little intensity, between 5 and 6 knots, but enough to close the championship with a total of five sleeves.
