The Canary Island of Lanzarote has put the point and end to nine days of the best Olympic sailing with the participation of more than 350 athletes from 39 countries

The new Olympic class has closed its race program in Lanzarote with a single slalom test, in which the Sevillian Pilar Lamadrid was ninth, a position that reaffirmed it in the fourth square of the classification.

The very bad conditions of the women's Medal Series could not be disputed, leaving the final general with Israel occupying the three podium squares: Shahar Tibi at the top, Sharon Kantor at the second square and Maya Morris at the third. The Israeli team has dominated the tests of female iQFOil throughout the race, with only the Spanish Pilar Lamadrid standing up to them.

In the male category, the British Sam Sills has carried the yellow lyre of leader since the first day, however the competition format makes the final winner the one who first crosses the line of arrival in the final race, regardless of his total score. Sills was not fine in his approach to the starting line, while the French Adrien Mestre came out quickly and took the gold medal. Second was the Dutch Luuc Van Opzeeland while Sills is back on the podium in Lanzarote and takes the bronze. The first Spanish on the table is Nacho Baltasar at position 30, followed by Tomás Vieito, 31.

Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio were eleventh in the first manga of the day, a result that allowed them to qualify in eighth place for the final Medal Race. The canaries were six in the Medal and end the Lanzarote International Regatta in an eighth meritorious place in their first race after three months sailing together.

Four times the world champion of Nacra 17 along with Marie Riou, Billy Besson now sails along with his compatriot Noa Elman. The French crew has shown great performance over the four days that they have participated in the Lanzarote International Regatta, with six podiums in the eight races played by the Olympic catamarans.

The Argentines Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco have not had their best day at the Medal, where they have been octavos. However, they have managed to keep the second square by the hairs, ending just one point ahead of New Zealanders Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson, bronze.

The kiwis, trained by the Spanish Olympic champion Anton Paz, have been second on the Medal Race and complete the Nacra 17 podium.

2023-02-16: White day and everything to decide on the last day of the Lanzarote Regatta

The unstable wind prevents the celebration of new races in Lanzarote waters

The sun has shone today in Lanzarote and has also blown the wind of the North, but it has not stopped rolling throughout this seventh day of the Lanzarote International Regatta.

The changes in wind direction were so strong that it has been impossible to mount the race field ensuring a fair competition, and it is that even the unique places to navigate take their days off. The experienced Canarian Dating Committee has had no choice but to cancel today's races.

After seven days, tomorrow Friday is the last day to race in Marina Rubicón with the celebration of more tests and the Medal Races of Nacra 17 and iQFOiL. The trophy delivery ceremony will be at 18: 00 peninsular time.

2023-02-15: Lanzarote Regatta: France commands in Nacra17 and Israel and Great Britain in IQFOil

Pilar Lamadrid at one step from the podium in iQFOiL Pacheco and Barrio take up a position at the Top10 in Nacra17

Sixth day of the Lanzarote International Regatta and second with the Nacra 17 and iQFOil in competition. For the first time in the championship, the wind has blown from the North, something roll, but the big waves of previous days have finally given way to a flat sea and therefore to a completely different game board.

Four barlovent / sotavent-format races have completed the women's Olympic windsurfing fleet. The Sevillian Pilar Lamadrid has been the most consistent and has been shot to the fourth provisional square already recovered from yesterday's indisposition that forced her to return to land before time. With some 2-8-1-1 partials, Lamadrid has been the best of the day... The other Spanish in liza, Andrea Torres, is in the middle of the table and is 31st out of a total of 60 windsurfers.

Shahar Tibi passes to the first place of the general, with a podium copped by Israeli windsurfers: Sharon Kantor goes down to the second square but with the same points as his compatriot, 18, while Katy Spychakov is third.

In the male category, leader Sam Sills started the day well (1-2) but lost stamina in the last trials (17-23). The British cling by the hairs to the first square as the current class world champion, the German Sebastian Koerdel, equals Sills with 23 points.

In a fleet of 75 athletes, the first Spanish is the young Mallorcan of the CN Sa Rapita Nacho Baltasar, in the 31st provisional square. The Galician Tomás Vieito is 44th followed by the Majorcan Bernat Tomàs, while the Alicantino Jorge Aranzueque is 51st.

Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio are the only Spanish representatives in the Nacra 17 fleet. The Canarian crew goes up a square in the general and is already eighth after this second day of race.

Meanwhile, there is a new leader in the class with the French Billy Besson and Noa Ancian at the top of the general after a total of three races in the race field located near the island of Lobos.

The victory in today's first manga of the Chinese crew formed by Huicong Mai and Linlin Chen, who go up to the thirteenth place of the general, is a challenge to highlight. The Argentines Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco (ARG) are seconds to just one point of gold while the New Zealanders - and exiles - Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson go down to the bronze stand.

Tomorrow Thursday the day will begin from 12: 00 peninsular hour with four new tests planned for the fleet of Nacra 17 and six for the iQFOil.

2023-02-14: Lanzarote Regatta: Tara Pacheco-Andrés Barrio at Top10 in Nacra 17

Change of third in the Lanzarote International Regatta with new classes on the starting line, and medium winds that clear the calima

After the competition for 49er, 49erFX and 470, the second part of the Lanzarote International Regatta has been launched on Tuesday, with the entry into play of three new Olympic classes. After two days of calm, today we have seen the sun again in Lanzarote. With a wind of between 10 and 14 knots the first races for Nacra 17 and iQFOiL Feminino and Male were started.

The Nacra 17 fleet, mixed catamaran, went to the race field near the Pechuera lighthouse and found great waves having to make important strategic and tactical decisions as the force and direction of the wind changed during the course.

New Zealanders Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson won two of the three contested races and are the first leaders of Nacra 17. Second are the Argentines Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco, who beat in the last manga of the day, and are tied to points with Laila van der Meer and Bjarne Bouwer (NED), third.

As for the Spaniards, the Canaria Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio occupy the ninth provisional square after signing some 8-4- (9).

Once again the Israelis demonstrate the strength of their country in the flying Olympic windsurfing and already dominate the top 10, with the young Sharon Kantor in the first place. Israel also occupies the third, fourth, fifth and eighth place of the provisional general.

The Spanish Pilar Lamadrid, number 1 of the world ranking and winner of the past Lanzarote iQFOil Games, only competed in the first test of the day by feeling diswilling. The best classified is the Majorcan Andrea Torres, in the 20th place of the general.

75 athletes compete in the male category of iQFOil. The British Sam Sills is rebound in Lanzarote and had a star day with a 1-2 partial that makes him at the front.

The winner of the other trial was the current world champion Sebastian Koerdel, who is second in the general tied to points with Italian Daniele Benedetti. The best Spanish is the young Mallorcan Nacho Baltasar, in the 3th square.

The tests continue Wednesday in Lanzarote from 12: 00 peninsular hour with a North wind forecast, a more typical direction of the islands in the Canary Islands.

2023-02-13: The Xammar-Brugman and Más-Nico gold and silver duplas in Lanzarote

The Spanish Xammar / Brugman and Mas / Rodríguez have clearly dominated the new Olympic mode by taking gold and silver

The fourth day of the Lanzarote International Regatta has now culminated in the Races Medal of the Olympic classes 470, 49er and 49erFX, after which we have met the first winners of this third edition. The calima caused by the dust from the Sahara has limited visibility one more day but not as much as yesterday.

The Spaniards Silvia Mas and Nico Rodríguez have been the winners of the Medal Race after a great race in it have been all the time in front of the fleet and have even come to have the championship victory very close as they had an advantage over Xammar and Brugman - leaders - that allowed them to overcome them in the general.

However, the Catalan crew recovered ground by advancing two ships to finish six in the Medal and thus certify their final victory with just one point of advantage over the Catalan and the Galician.

First and second, therefore, the Spanish crews of 470, something to celebrate in the words of Jordi Xammar: "We are a team of the federation and everything that is good for the federation, for the Olympic team and for the country is good news."

The current world champions, the Swedish Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson have completed the 470 podium of the Lanzarote International Regatta.

In the female class 49erFX it was difficult to beat the British Freya Black and Saskia Tidey. They crossed the line in fourth place and that result was enough to take the gold. Italian Jana Germani and Giorgia Bertuzzi have achieved silver and American Steph Robles and Maggie Shea have achieved bronze.

His teammates James Peters and Flynn Sterritt have been very consistent and successful the entire championship and the fourth place in today's Medal Race has been enough for them to get a new gold for their country. The second were the New Zealanders Logan Dunning Beck and Oscar Gunn, followed by the young Austrian crew formed by Keanu Prettner and Jakob Flachberger.

The rest of the classes that compete in the Lanzarote International Regatta 2023 - Nacra 17 and iQFOil female and male - will compete from tomorrow, day 14, and until Friday, day 17. In the case of the Nacra 17, the maximum number of tests to be held during those four days is 12 sleeves plus the Medal Race, while the Olympic flying windsurfing could complete up to 16 tests of up to three different formats - marathon, slalom and B / S- to which the so-called Medal Series would be added.

23-02-12: Xammar-Brugman and Silvia-Nico hold in podium squares in Lanzarote

Silvia Mas and Nico Rodríguez get on the provisional podium. Xammar and Brugman have not been able to navigate but they manage to keep the silver provisional

Wind up to 26 knots and three-metre waves have been the conditions we saw this Sunday on the third day of competition of the Lanzarote International Regatta. The 470 fleet has come to complete a manga while the 49er and 49erFX have not been able to compete due to the calima, the dust from the Sahara that is affecting the Canary Islands and that impossibility of good visibility.

While the huge waves and the strong wind were a challenge for the fleet, it was the 'calm' - the suspended dust from the Sahara that has made Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria on yellow notice - which has prevented the continuation of today's tests. With the visibility reduced to just over 200 meters, security has prevailed and after the first manga the Regatas Committee sent the fleet back to Marina Rubicon.

Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson recover the first square after winning a new race with big waves and wind. This victory allows the Swedes to overcome former leaders Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman (ESP), who were unable to compete today after Nora was hurt going out to the race field..

Despite this, today's points become their discards so that the Spaniards remain on the podium and move to the second place of the general, with 11 points of advantage over their teammates Silvia Mas and Nico Rodríguez.

The Catalan and Galician are doing a great job in Lanzarote, always being in the Top 10 of all the races that the 470 fleet has played in these three days of competition.

The chief officer of the Lanzarote International Regatta, Ricardo Navarro, regretted that it was not possible to make more races, of the FX and 49er classes.

Meanwhile, two British teams continue to be the first in the 49er and 49erFX fleets: James Peters and Fynn Stortt and Freya Black and Saskia Tidey, respectively.

This afternoon even the entry and exit flights of Lanzarote have been delayed by the effects of the calm. If the Sahara dust dissipates at night and improves visibility, the plan is to make a sleeve with the entire fleet and then the Medal Race, with only the top 10 classified in the 470, 49er and 49erFX.

Provisional classification 470. Lanzarote International Regatta. Day 3
1. Dahlberg / Karlsson (SWE), 7 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 + (9) + 1 = 17

2023-02-11: Xammar-Brugman, 470 leaders at the Lanzarote International Regatta

Strong wind of about 20 knots and very large wave, ingredients of a spectacular second day of the Lanzarote International Regatta

The strong wind and great waves have made the second day of the Lanzarote International Regatta a physical challenge for the three Olympic fleets that have been competing in the Canary Islands since yesterday. The British fleet, which has its winter training base in Lanzarote, rises to the top of the general in the 49er and 49erFX classes while the Spanish Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman are confirmed as the crew to beat in these conditions and are the new leaders of the 470 class.

The day began early for the 470 fleet. The Committee wanted to take advantage of the conditions that were envisaged and, at the end of yesterday, the time of departure was at 10: 45 peninsular hours.

Jordi Xammar, bronze in Tokyo 2020, and Nora Brugman are skilfully performing in strong conditions and today they have sailed their 470 firm winning the first sleeve of the day and finishing seconds in the next two.

Five points are left in the provisional general, yesterday's leaders, the Swedish Anton Dahlberg & Lovisa Karlsson. The current champions of Europe have also had good partials: 2-1-9.

The Catalan Silvia Mas and the Galician Nico Rodríguez stand out in the fourth place of the general just one point from the provisional podium.

Up to three tests have been held since the first hour of the morning by women of the 49th FX. For this type of ship today's conditions were not easy and the race was a war of wear, with many swings and falls in mink and even crews that have not competed in any or any of the tests.

This is the case with the Spanish crews. The Galician Patricia Suárez and the Canaria María Cantero have not competed today. Nor does the Galician Támara Echegoyen who sails on this occasion in Lanzarote with her coach José Costa. His partner Paula Barceló recovered these days from an ankle sprain.

Ilesas and at the head of the general are Freya Black and Saskia Tidey (GBR), which have been forming crew for just a year. While Tidey has been in the last two Olympic Games in the 49erFX, Black has only been in this class a year, so his mastery of today's conditions has been even more impressive.

Jana Germani and Georgia Bertuzzi have been as consistent as the British, with a fantastic partial 2-4-1. The Italian crew goes up to the second provisional square. Yesterday's leaders, the Brazilian Olympic bicampeons Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze fall to the fourth square.

The 49er class has been the one that has completed the most races on this second day, with four new sleeves in its locker. James Peters and Flynn Stortt (GBR) go up to the first square with partial results 2-3-23-3.

The Spanish Diego Botín and Florian Trittel (ESP), who won the second race today, move from the second to the sixth place of the general after suffering a break that forced them to retire in the last manga.

The competition continues in Lanzarote tomorrow Sunday in which it will be the third day of Olympic races in the waters of the Canary Island. The 470 and 49erFX fleets are expected to be the first to go out into the water, with the attention signal set at 12: 00 peninsular hour. The 49th will start the tests from 14: 30.

Provisional classification 470. Lanzarote International Regatta. Day 2
1. Xammar / Brugman (ESP), 3 + 3 + (12) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 11
2. Dahlberg / Karlsson (SWE), 7 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 + (9) = 16
3. Yves / Maja (SUI), (19) + 1 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 11 = 28

Provisional classification 49er. Lanzarote International Regatta. Day 2
1. Peters / Stortt (GBR), 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 3 + (23) + 3 = 17

2023-02-10: The third edition of its International Regatta begins in Lanzarote

This international event organized by Marina Rubicón has the support of the Real Federación Canaria de Vela and is possible thanks to the institutional sponsorship of Promotur Turismo de Canarias with the funding of the Fund REACTEU and Tourism of the Cabildo de Lanzarote through the sports product European Sports Destination (managed by SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote), as well as the public collaboration of the City of Yaiza and the private entities Dinghycoach, Naviera Armas and Cabrera Medina (Cicar)

First day of competition of the Lanzarote International Regatta and Marathon day in the water. The fleet has had to wait for the conditions to be ideal for navigation as it has not blown the typical wild wind of the Northeast, starting the first races when it was about 15: 00 peninsular hour.

The 470 class has completed three races after which we see a most tight general, with Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman and Silvia Mas and Nico Rodríguez in the fourth and fifth provisional square. Same number of races for the 49th, with Diego Botín and Florian Trittel in fourth position, although tied to seven points with third parties.

After three races in the race field near the beach of Papagayo, the 470 class presents itself with four crews and a total of six points.

The Swedish Dahlberg / Karlsson, current European champions, are the provisional leaders tied with the Swiss Yves and Maja - second -, the Germans Luise Wansher and Philipp Autenrieth - world and third-party champions after this first day of competition in Lanzarot- and the Spanish Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman - current world and European subchampions. The Catalan Silvia Mas and the Galician Nico Rodríguez, bronze in Tokyo next to Xammar, have also signed a great day, in which they have won the first manga and are fifths of the provisional general with a total of eight points.

The champions of the last edition, the cantabre Diego Botín and the Catalan Florian Trittel, have sealed a good day in the water, with three tests and a partial 5-2-5 that leave them tied to points with the third, the Irish Dickson and Waddilove.

The young Austrians Keanu Prettner and Jakob Flachberger (AUT) have given the bell after winning two of the three tests that have completed the 49er today

When the 49ers finished their tests in the Bravo field, in closer to Marina Rubicón, it was already late but with the sun shining and the wind blowing with good intensity, the Regatas Committee sent the 49erFX into the water to complete two tests before sunset.

After this first day, the double Olympic champions Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze (BRA) lead with an 8-1 partial. The Italian Jana Germani and Giorgia Bertuzzi take second place. A victory in the first manga today places the British Freya Black and Saskia Tidey in the third provisional square.

The Galician Patri Suárez and the canaria María Cantero are the first Spanish and sextas in the general, thanks to a great third place in the last race today.

Provisional classification 470. Lanzarote International Regatta. Day 1
