The Alboroto was the leader on Saturday of the Winter League Baitra J80, which premiered in the Ria de Vigo with the participation of 26 J80 monotypes manned by regatists from numerous points in Galicia, Asturias, Madrid and Portugal.

The team, led by Juan Carlos Ameneiro, was successful in the only test that could be held on a day of wind-fattened races, which was very roll and the few times it was set in, blew with little intensity.

In the only manga disputed in the area of Carallones, Maija, Alboroto and Marías were the three outstanding ships, and not only because they ended up on the provisional podium, but because of their great performance during the test. The Maija, with Castor Alonso at the command, made a very good way out and held the fight to the end, although he was first at the Alboroto's hands.

Another of the teams that starred in a major event was Portuguese Marías, led by Manel Cunha. The Lusa crew saw almost a third of the fleet pass ahead during the first part of the tour, but in the second part it reminded the rest of why it is one of the candidates for the title, passing them to almost all and finishing the test in third position.

The problem reached the Marías when, once on the ground, the committee proceeded to the weighing of crews and the team did not show up, thus the ship was penalized with two points, falling from the third to the fifth position.

And from the fourth place to the third, the Miudo rose, where two large sails in Galicia, Marga Cameselle and Víctor Mariño premiered in the league. Although they were not usual in J80's competitions, they both demonstrated their value and left a warning that they will give war over the next few days.

The Monte Real Club de Yates inaugurates its 2023 sports calendar in Baiona this Saturday with the celebration of the first day of the Winter League Baitra J80, which about 25 ships will be held in 6 stages until next May.

In addition to this Saturday, there will be evidence on 25 February, 11, 25 and 26 March and 27 May. Three races are scheduled per day, which, if conditions allow and everything goes as planned, the fleet of monotypes will measure the forces in a total of 18 sleeves.

This year, the competition, which is joined by leading regatists such as Víctor Mariño, Alberto Viejo or Marga Cameselle, among others; includes a couple of new ones. The first is that the time of start of the different phases, which goes from three in the afternoon to two, is advanced in order to be able to take more advantage of the light time and not have so much above the time limit of completion of the tests, set in one hour before the sun sets.
