Mateo and Simón Codoñer Dominators of the 29er Spanish Cup in Valencia
The first competition block of this new edition of the Valencia Olympic Week, which has managed to bring together more than 450 regatists between the Real Club Nautico Valencia and Real Club Nautico Torrevieja, has ended after four days of race where we have seen the sailing of eleven different light sailing classes: Snipe, Hobie16, Finn, Vaien, F18, Sailing Skate, Class A and 29er in the Valencian club and the three modes of ILCA in the Torevieja headquarters.
One of the great titles that has covered this VIII Comunitat Valenciana Olympic Week has been the 29er Spanish Cup. More than twenty ships, from all over the country, have been competing for this title in the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia where the brothers Mateo and Simon Codoñer, clear aspiring to take the Cup, have dominated the race from beginning to end not giving truce to their rivals in any of the disputed evidence.
The female classification in which we have seen that the positions were interspersing with the test after the test has been more difficult. And finally, the regularity achieved in the six disputed partials has left the tandem of the Real Club Nautico Palma formed by Susana Bestard and Mª Teresa Martín as champions this season.
Together with them have completed the national medalist Neus García and Lucía Busquets (RCNP) and Sara and Isabel Momplet (RCNV). In the male classification, the silver was taken by Marina Conde and Manuel Martín (RCNP) and the bronze Sergi López and Guillermo Castellano (RCNV).
And in addition to these individual titles there was also at stake the Cup of Spain of 29er by Autonomías where the Federació de Vela de la Comunitat Valenciana has been the great winner.
The other seven kinds of light sailing we found in competition at the Real Club Nautico in Valencia have also closed the day blank as conditions have not allowed to develop any tests despite the waiting.
Ana Moncada Spanish champion of ILCA6 on the last sleeve
Not so defined has been the national medallion for the ILCA6 class that has been held at the Royal Torrevieja Nautical Club.
For four intense days, the highest national exponents of the class, have not stopped agitating the classification by closing each day with a different leader and under a very tight puncture.
In the start-up, it was Martina Reino who dominated the competition, but he had little duration of this term since during the second day Ana Moncada took the top of the general so that in the third and penultimate day it was Cristina Pujol who will set up the first place.
Yet to be decided on this last day, the three candidates for the title went out to sea, knowing that they could not let a detail pass. And although it has not been, much less the best day for the sevillana Ana Moncada, a second in the tenth and final partial championship has taken it directly to the top of the national classification and has thus become the new Spanish champion of ILCA6.
The Olympic Cristina Pujol has been left behind and only five points away and with the bronze medal the Canaria Martina Reino.
Although it should be noted that the first place in the absolute general has been named Italian because it is Massimiliano Antonazzi, who, after keeping the entire championship in silver posts, today has signed his best day and has climbed to the top of the general.
As for the national title by autonomy, the winner has been the Balear Federation of Vela and the Federació de Vela of the Comunitat Valenciana has hung the bronze medal.
For their part, the ILCA4 and ILCA7 fleets, which have also been competing during the Valencian Olympic Week in the Real Nautical Club Torrevieja, have fought for the Autonomous Cup of the Federació de Vela of the Valencian Community this season.
Three days of race and eight completed partials have left Jorge Gonzalvez of the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante as champion 2023, his club partner Adolfo Virgili as subchampion and Mariano Cebrián of the Benidorm Nautical Club on the third step.
In the case of the ILCA4, which have been able to complete only five tests during these three days, the winner has been Jaume Castaño of the Royal Nautico Club Denia, followed by Jorge Santos (CN Altea) and Quique Ferrando (RCNV).
But with these results, the eighth edition of the Valencian Olympic Week does not end since next week, from 16 to 19 February, it will continue to be held simultaneously in three different venues: Real Club de Regatas de Alicante, Club Náutico Santa Pola and Real Club Náutico Torrevieja and with twelve new modes of light sailing in competition and new national and international titles in play.

2023-02-10: Mateo and Simon Codoñer first leaders the 29th Spanish Cup in Valencia

The 29th Spanish Cup in the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia closes its first delivery, of the three planned, within the Olympic Week program. It does so with the wind as a sad protagonist, absent in the morning and very little in the first hour of the afternoon, with little 5-6 knots on a 245th axis that has allowed to complete a single test of the three planned.
Very complex conditions for the committee, but also very difficult to manage the fleet. In this sense the local tandem Mateo and Simón Codoñer (RCN of Valencia) have been able to take advantage of that little and note a partial victory at home, so they pass to lead the 29er fleet that reaches the 21 ships.
Favorites have been able to hold the guy in the 'Manel Casanova' area and stand in front. The Sumana Bestard and Mª Teresa Martín (RNC Palma) baleares conclude second, being at this time the leaders of the cup in females. After them, in the third temporary general square and second in this category, there is another favorite crew: Sara and Isa Momplet (RCN Valencia).
The top ten is closed with the Catalans Santiago Núñez and Ricardo de March (CN Garraf), followed by two crews of the RCN de Palma: Marina Conde and Manuel Martín and Neus García and Lucia Busquets. The seventh square is for Elena de Tomás and Obdulia Fernández (RCN Valencia) followed by Miguel Campos (RCR Alicante) and Pablo Moreno (RCN Valencia), while the 9th and 10th square is for the representatives of the RCN of Gran Canaria, with Barnabas Denes and Paula Domínguez and Jaime Lang-Lentón Natalia Méndez respectively.
