Anna Boada- Aina Cid take the ticket to Rio. The Spanish rowing returns to the Olympic scene
The classification for Rio 2016 was concluded in Lucerne, and the good news is that the Olympic rowing of Spain will be back in an Olympics after being absent in London 2012 (the last Spanish participation dates back to Pekin 2008 with Nuria Domínguez in Skiff), with the classification of the Catalan Anna Boada and Aina Cid, to which must be added the couple Pau Vela and Álex Sigurbjornssonde, who already had the ticket they had obtained at the 2015 French World Cup
The Spanish duo Boada-Cid, who on Sunday achieved the direct pass to the final by winning his series, needed to end up among the first four to certify his presence in Rio 2016 and did not miss the occasion. In this way, they reimposed in the final with a 7: 10,160 chrono, ahead of the great favorites, the Chinese Min Zhang and Tian Mao (7: 11,290). The Italian and Polish boats completed the quota for Rio. They already warned in the expulsions that they would all win their sleeve with authority and being the only boat that was directly classified for the final. Yesterday they proved to be great candidates for the Olympic medal. Anna and Aina placed themselves at the head in the first paddles and the regatta leaders in the 500 meters. However, the rest of the rivals also went for all and in the next few meters there was a dance of positions that did not make it clear who would impose their authority in the end. The Spanish couple, which in the 1,500 meters was in 3rd position, increased the rate of palads frantically to mark the best time in the last partial and to cross the line of arrival first with a time of 7: 10.16. After them, more than a second, China, Italy, Poland - which were made with the other three Olympic squares in play -, Russia and Argentina were classified. Our girls rose up with a gold medal that tastes like glory.

Joy of Anna and Aina,... and its classification for Rio was essential for the Spanish rowing (Photo FER).
Worse luck in Lucerna the other Spanish ships that reached the finals. The light double scull of Adriá Mitjavila and Rodrigo Conde; the light-free four of Ander Zabala, Patricio Rojas, Marc Franquet and Imanol Garmendia.
