The fleet of the Atlantic Ocean Raid- GP 2023 is already sailing to Cape Verde

The ships are already sailing to Cape Verde, to cover the first stage Lanzarote-Mindelo 955 miles. With well-established winds, fast navigation is expected to allow the fleet to arrive in Mindelo on 13 January, in a five-day singlature
It began the tenth edition of the Ocean Raid- Grand Prix of the Atlantic, which takes place every two years, and which since 2022 has adopted the rallye format renouncing the competitive character of its first ten editions.
Organised by Nautical Dissemination and the Skipper Nautical Club, in collaboration with Marina Rubicón, Marina de Mindelo and Marina du Marin, it is currently the transatlantic event of Spanish reference organization... and also has the sponsorship of Ausmar, Sailwiz and Cenautics.
On January 17, the fleet is expected to resume the navigation to cover the second stage: Cape Verde- Martinique, which represents a total of 2,083 nautical miles... estimating the organizers that the registered ships will use between 10 and 13 days to complete this second stage.
With 8 registered cruises, Agustín Gutiérrez, president of Friends of the Atlantic, an entity that also collaborates with the event, had to cancel his participation at the last minute when he was already sailing to the Canary Islands... so there have finally been seven ships that have taken the exit, including two solitaries, the Vagabundo of José Antonio Martín, with 19 Atlantic voyages behind his back, and the Siesta, the magnificent Baltic 52 manned alone by Fernando Goizueta.
