Today the presentation of the thirty-seventh edition of one of the most popular trophies of the Optimist class in Spain took place at the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria.

The competition will take place from 26 to 29 December in the capital bay with a race program composed of nine sleeves, of which it is expected to celebrate three daily. The participation of a hundred optimist is estimated, representing 4 autonomous communities... Balearic Islands, Murcia, Catalonia and the Canary Islands.

The AECIO Trophy to celebrate in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is one of the oldest competitions of the national sailing calendar for this kind of promotion, where the younger begin to navigate.

In this presentation, the vice-comandoro advanced to the media the intention that the Royal Nautical Club of Gran Canaria that this trophy be reconsidered one of the tests of the Excellence Cup, a circuit of five international races that is currently being held in Spain, between October and March. The AECIO was part of this circuit from 2012 to 2016 and participated children who have later become great international athletes such as Jordi Xammar, Olympic bronze in the Tokyo JJOO and current skipper of the Spanish boat of the GP circuit, winner in the 2017 edition or Toni Rivas, Olympic coach winner in 1987.
