The Ukrainian SofFia Naumenko in the class ILCA 6 Female and the Dutch Hidde Schraffordt in the class ILCA 6 Male, have been the absolute winners of the 46th edition of the Christmas Race, which has been held in the Bay of Palamós. Naumenko thus takes the Trofeu Manuel Albalat, to the best Olympic class crew and Schraffordt the Trofeu Diputació de Girona, to the best absolute youth crew.

In the other classes the victory has been for the Dutch Hieke Schraffordt in class ILCA 4, the Swedish Jonathan Llado in class Europe and the Spanish Marc Mesquida and Ramon Jaume in 420.

In three classes the leaders have been maintained from beginning to end: ILCA 6 Women, ILCA 6 Male and Europe; and in the other two there were more alternatives for the first place, in ILCA 4 and 420.

In the Olympic class ILCA 6 Sofiia Naumenko dominated, but always had to look back to the second square, where the alicantine Roca de Togores (RCN Torrevieja) was the great alternative and although it did not lead, if it had always its options, finishing second and closing the podium also the alicantine Claudia Adan (CN Santa Pola).

In ILCA 6 Male Hidde Schraffordt has been the best in its category and has given no choice to any other crew, it reached the final day with 19 points of advantage over Catalan Giulio Zinino (CN Garraf), second and 23 over Dutch Max Frank, third.

In ILCA 4, the one of the youngest was one leader per day. Finally the Dutch Hieke Schraffordt was the one who took the cat into the water on the third day, after both the British Archie Munro-Price, second and the Dutch Abel Melens, third will also become leaders.

In the Europe class, the Swedish Jonathan Llado has also been a firm leader and the Catalans Álex Martin and the world's suchamp Daniel Cabré (CN El Masnou), the other two podium squares were held, finishing second and third, respectively. In local key, the Palamosense Ramon Figueras - the current Spanish champion - finished sixth. The female champion has been the Catalan Emma Cabré (CN El Masnou) and the best sub18 the Catalan Pere Rentería (CN El Masnou).

Where there has been full Spanish in class 420 with the victory of the subchampions of the world, the baleares Marc Mesquida and Ramon Jaume (CN Arenal), subchampions of Europe, rose with the first place in Palamós on the penultimate day with what they have raised with the title. The Catalans Pol Mateu and Alejandro de Maqua (CN El Balís), who led the first two days, finished second and Pau Lliber-Miralpeix and Alberto Marsans (CN El Balís), have been third by closing the podium. The women's champions have been the champions of the world, Maria Perelló and Marta Cardona (CN Arenal). That's how it ended in Palamós.

The Christmas Race 2022 comes to an end... in the absence of the last day's dispute, there have been changes of leader in ILCA 4, the class that has moved most throughout the race, where the Dutch Hieke Schraffordt ILCA 4 and the baleares Marc Mesquida and Ramon Jaume are premiered in 420. In the rest of the classes the same are still in the lead of the previous two days: Sofia Naumenko in ILCA 6 Women, Hidde Schraffordt in ILCA 6 Male and Jonathan Llado in Europe.

The wind has been made to beg today in the bay of Palamós, keeping the fleet in port until after noon, when the south-south-west has entered, but with less intensity than in the first two days, has barely separated the 8 knots of intensity. This would give

In the Olympic class ILCA 6 Feminine was placed leader in the first day the Ukrainian Sofia Naumenko and thus comes to the final day, still the alicantine Avension Rock of Togores follows him five points behind in second position. Third is also the alicantine Claudia Adam, who has been the protagonist of the day winning the two sleeves.

In ILCA 6 Male the Dutch Hidde Scharaffordt is the virtual winner, although not mathematically, he takes 21 points to the second ranked after his worst result throughout the week is a fifth. The Catalan Giulio Zunino is still second and this square will be played with the Dutch Mas Frank, third to two points and with the Spanish Daniel Cardona, Javier Plomer and Karol Krupski, separated between them by just seven points.

In ILCA 4 the Dutch Hieke Schraffordt has been placed in the head after performing a 2-6 and maintains a five-point income on the British Archie Munro-Price, which has had a bad first test of the day, in which it has finished 17 and has recovered in the second with a quarter. Meanwhile the Dutch Abel Melens, who left today as leader, has fallen to the third square after performing a 25 and a 14. The fourth square is occupied by the Galician Jaime Abella, although it is far from the podium to which it has at 16 points.

In the Europe class, the Swedish Jonathan Llado remains firm and has the victory in his hand after he outnumber the second ranked, Catalan Álex Martín. Third is also Catalan Daniel Cabré and the first female is Emma Cabré in ninth position in the general.

In 420 the world's subchampions, the baleares Marc Mesquida and Ramon Jaume have raided the leadership in the penultimate day, although they have three crews tied to 26 points, those of the Catalans Pol Mateu and Alejandro de Maqua, the baleares Paul Lliber-Miralpeix and Alberto Marsans and that of the British Alice Davis and Oliver Raynier. The Maria Perelló and Marta Cardona baleares are the first female crew in the tenth position in the general.

2022-12-20: Second act of the Christmas Race in Palamós... continue the show

The second day of the 46 Palamós Christmas Race was a point and followed by the first, with good wind from the south-south-west blowing over the 15 knots and reaching the 21 rachas. Leaders, except in ILCA 4, maintain their initial positions. The Catalan Pol Mateu and Alejandro de Maqua do so in the double class 420. In the individual classes, Ukrainian Sofia Naumenko is in ILCA 6 Female, Dutch Hiddel Schraffordt in ILCA 6 Male, Swedish Jonathan Llado in Europe and premiered as Dutch leader Abel Melens in ILCA 4. In today's day, when a minimum of four tests are held, a discard has come into play.

The 420 is the class to which the Spaniards are best given, after the first two days they copy the podium positions once the qualifying phase is over and tomorrow Wednesday the fleet will be divided into Grupo Oro and Plata. The Catalans Pol Mateu and Alejandro de Maqua stand in the head after the attack of the world's subchampions, the Baleares Marc Mesquida and Ramon Jaume, who led the general in the middle of the day, but finally those of El Balís managed to recover the leadership and opening a four-point gap between first and second. The Pau Lliber-Miralpeix and Alberto Marsans baleares have also raided the podium posts, are third in the general. The first female crew is that of the baleares Maria Perelló and Marta Cardona, seven in the general.

Among the ILCA, in ILCA 6 Women's Olympic class, the Ukrainian Sofia Naumenko, who has won two of the three sleeves, in the other has been third. This allows you to keep the lead, although it has the alicantine Roca Ascension of Togores that with two seconds and one first, holds its options to victory, as it is two points from Naumenko. Third is the Miriam Sitges.

In ILCA 6 Male the Dutch Hidde Schraffordt remains firm in the head and with a difference of 8 points on the Catalan Giuilio Zunino, which is placed second, exceeding the shooting of Karol Krupski, who has lost a position and is third.

The only class that has experienced a change in leadership has been ILCA 4, where the Dutch Abel Melens has first set, exceeding the British Archie Munro-Price; two points separate them. The Canadian Carlos Charabati is the one who occupies the third position after performing a large stretch from the tenth to the third position on an almost perfect day with a third and two first. The first Spanish is the Biel Monerris, fifth.

In the class Europe follows the rule of the Swedish Jonathan Llado, who has made a more discreet day with a 3-5-8 maintaining a four-point advantage over the Catalans Daniel Cabré, who is second and Álex Martín, third.

Three new tests are planned for tomorrow, and the wind conditions may vary, with a south forecast but with less intensity, so some crews may have their options after two days of medium winds.
