This past weekend the second event of the Barcelona Winter Series in J70 was held in the waters of the City Condal, with acceptable weather conditions and outstanding international participation. On the departure line there were a total of 12 teams from 5 different nations such as Spain, England, Germany, Poland and Andorra, and all about to see more European teams from the Netherlands and Nordic countries at the next event scheduled for December 9-11.

As the beginning of this event on Friday two sleeves could be completed... the first race was won with authority by Jorge Martínez Dorete with his new team Cars Solutions International, followed by the English Seriousfun and third Noticia by Luis Martín Cabiedes.

In the second manga the wind rolled and reduced the intensity a lot, forcing the committee to shorten the course in the second round on the barlovent beacon. In this second manga Cars Solutions International also had a very good advantage over its rivals, but the bad fortune wanted them to fall into a well of wind and see impotent as the Noticia crossed them forward in the finish line, confirming their provisional leadership.

On Saturday it all pointed to rain and the wind would be whimsical, but it wasn't. The Barcelona sun again shone and the wind, this time of a western component, allowed for 3 sleeves of the 4 planned. This time the best boat of the day was the W Clinic with 3rd, 2nd and 1st. The soft wind was blowing from the ground and rolling a lot, the sea was flat without a wave and the tactics had to be made to the top so that they could draw the wind holes and go around the most favorable areas of the race field. Being the best boat of the day, Clínicas W climbed to the second provisional square just a Noticia point that followed leader and Cars Solutions International third to a point of Clínicas W.

On Sunday, the wind did not miss the date since the first hour of the morning but when in the middle of the first manga it left completely and the race had to be suspended. The fleet waited patiently for the necessary conditions to be met again and the regatta committee, led by Pere Sarquella, waited until 1330 hours until the beginning of the 220, typical Barcelona garby and was established at an intensity of about 8 knots that went up to 12. The manga was carried by Tenaz, followed very closely by Clínicas W which allowed him to rise with the final triumph of the event with 4 points of advantage over Noticia which was the second and to Tenaz that closed the podium.

On this occasion, the Clínicas W team was patronized by its usual tactic, the grancanary Guti del Castillo, at the trimming was kept Ricardo Terrades, the tactic was in charge of the launcher Nano Negrín, at the bow was Manuel Carrión along with the young Galician Maricú Diz. The other regular crew members of the W Clinic, such as Luis M. Doreeste and Adolfo López, were unable to navigate for injury.

The J70 season continues in Spain intensively. The next weekend (26 and 27 November) will be the second event of the Villalia Winter Series in Vigo, and for each month there will be 2 races per month, one in Barcelona and the other in Vigo. When it comes to spring the calendar is intensified with more than 10 races to be held in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Vigo.

The second event of the 2022-2023 season of the Barcelona J70 Winter Series begins in the waters of the City Condal, with a ten monotypes representing Spain, England, Poland, Germany and Sweden... the competition will last three days in which a maximum of four tests per day will be regated.

Barcelona Waspz Winter Series 2022-2023
From November to February, the WASZP class, an individual boat with fils, is added to the RCNB's race calendar. As a novelty to this second act of the J70, the Waspz prototype is incorporated with 9 participants. Once a month, coinciding with the Barcelona J70 Winter Series, the WASZP will sail the different series, doing slalom tests on Fridays and barlovent- sotavento tests on Saturdays and Sundays.
