The GuardiMoreira continues to send in the Villalia J70 Winter Series
The Guard & Moreira of Gonzalo Araújo is the leader of the first act of the Villalia J70 Winter Series, organized by the Association of the Class, with the support of the Royal Nautical Club ended on Sunday afternoon. The pattern was set in Vigo, and the pressure of its two most direct rivals in this opening of the event was perfectly maintained: the Nacua Sogacsa with Sancho Paramo to the cane and Pablo Iglesias as tactical, and those of veteran Guillermo Alonso, who with a young crew, in which is Javier Gandara, son of the great Viguese ocean navigator, the Arosan regatists Alejandro Prego and Yago Blanco... holds between the first three.
Equality is tremendous, which shows that the results of the Marnatura of José Luis Freire, in both the European and the World, or the past of the Pérez Canal are not the result of coincidence... but that in Vigo there is the maximum level of this monotype... a level that is shared with that of the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona. The palpable demonstration of this extreme preparation of our crews, offers it what happened this weekend in the Ria de Vigo with two sleeves with winds of 8 knots from the west: no one repeated victory in the four manga held: LaGuardia & Moreira, Seneca SW, April Verde and Sailway Academy... four sleeves and four winners.
Another fact is that four J70 are tied to points after two days, and three of them are the three Made in Ourense and Made in Pérez Canal: the Green April with Luis Pérez Canal, the Red April with Jorge Pérez Canal... and the very young patron Alejandro Pérez Canal, one of the most solid values of the future Galician candle, with Sailway Academy.
A great atmosphere in Vigo, which will go in crescendo in the next two acts, as the fleet of J70 of Cantabria, Catalonia, Valencia, Baleares, Andalusia, Canary Islands and Portugal, have announced their landing in Vigo for the second and third acts of the Villalia for the 26-27 November and the 18-19 December

2022-11-05: The Moreira Guard first leader of the Villalia J70 Winter Series in Vigo
The prestigious Galician patron Gonzalo Araújo at the head of the La Guardia & Moreira, with a crew composed of Paula González, Jacobo Vecino, Juan Debem and Gerardo Prego, is the first leader of the Villalia J70 Spring Series, after having held the first act in the Ria de Vigo, in the hands of the Association of the Class and the Royal Nautical Club, in which only two of the four sleeves initially planned were held. For the complicated day Sunday that is expected by the sluggish of the foreseeable south wind, beginning at 10: 30 in the morning.
Excellent once again the Herculine judge Jaime García, who despite having to deal with a wind of 6 to 7 knots from the west managed to complete half of what was planned for Saturday: two sleeves, after having to wait patiently in the center of the viguese time and a half.
Araújo that moves very well with these conditions, was able to score his first position in the locker of the La Guardia & Moreira... ahead of an illustrious veteran such as the Vigo Willy Alonso who patrolled the SW Seneca and had Javier de la Gandara Jr, Alejandro Prego Menor and Yago Blanco... relegating the powerful Nacua Sogacsa to the third provisional position, which had a very compensated crew: Sancho Paramo, Pablo Iglesias, Iago Carreba and Luis Sampedro.
In addition, the first act of the exciting season that is expected in Vigo for 2022-23, with a Pazo de Cea that with Ramón Ojea to the cane, overcame the Oresan block, composed of Red April, Sailway Acchary and Green April, as well as the Vigués Valmy Atlántica and the Correa Kessler, which is the weapon Fran Edreira.

They begin in Vigo the Villalia Winter Series by the J70 Association, with the support of the Xeral Secretary for O Sport of the Xunta of Galicia, the Concello of Vigo, as well as of Sailway and the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo.
The Villalia mark the beginning of an exciting season in Vigo, in which the best crews will be gathered from now until the summer, with monthly regatta during each month: J70 of the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Andalusia, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Cantabria... as well as Portugal, and even of other countries, that will be gathered in the olive city with two really spectacular final events.
In the international section, the Lusitana Sail Cascais, which has already acquired four J70, will have a special role to play in making available to large crews from other non-Iberian countries, in order to raise the level of events.
It is confirmed in the Galician Championship, it will bring together the two monotyped classes: the J70 and the J80. The latter have their main base at the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona and some units at the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña. Convening them only means that the participation is close to half a hundred ships... with the end of the season... Vigo has already been confirmed as the headquarters of the J70 Spanish Championship. These two great events will take place in the Viguese era during the months of May and June 2023.
At present Vigo has with Barcelona the best fleet of the J70 Peninsula... with units such as the Marnatura armed by José Luis Freire, who has participated in the European Hyeres Championship, where he was the best ship in the European Community, and most recently in the World Cup, which was held in the waters of the Principality of Monaco where he had an extraordinary performance within the team of Spain, as he entered the first squares and was the second J70 in the amateur classification, in the Corinthians Trophy... with a crew in which there were three vigueses: Luis Bugallo, the Manuel and the Mándártano de la, the Manuel and the Prandir.
Other units with a great pronunciation also in international competitions are the two Oils April of Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal or Laguardia & Moreira of Gonzalo Araújo, for giving three examples. The Viguese fleet has today a dozen units, to be measured from this weekend in the Villalia Winter, with the best J70 in Spain and Portugal. It will be two days, on Saturday beginning at 1: 30 in the afternoon, and on Sunday at 10: 30 in the morning. Vigo shares the role of the J70 at the Iberian level with Barcelona.
